On the morning of July 10, at the mid-year meeting of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai read a report on the investment policy for the project of infrastructure investment, schools, and green parks within the scope of Binh Hung Hoa cemetery (Binh Tan District) - phase 3.

The project has a total capital of 1,497 billion VND from the city budget, implemented in the period of 2023 - 2026. The land area for construction is more than 17 hectares. The investor and project implementation unit is the Binh Tan District Investment and Construction Project Management Board.

Ho Chi Minh City plans to invest nearly 1,500 billion VND to build infrastructure, parks, and schools on the land of Binh Hung Hoa cemetery.

The plan to relocate Binh Hung Hoa cemetery was proposed in 2010 but was only implemented in 2014.

The Binh Hung Hoa cemetery relocation project covers an area of about 44.5 hectares and is divided into 3 phases. Phase 1 of the project was implemented in 2014, with 13,610/15,539 graves exhumed and relocated, reaching nearly 88%; Phase 2 was implemented in 2017, with 10,833/16,848 graves exhumed and relocated, reaching over 64%.

Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee considers it urgent to continue the relocation of graves for the project to invest in school infrastructure and green parks within the Binh Hung Hoa cemetery, phase 3.

Furthermore, the investment in schools and parks also creates synchronization with phases 1 and 2, contributing to urban beautification, solving environmental pollution and security and order. The investment in schools on the land of Binh Hung Hoa cemetery also helps the locality complete the target of building 700 - 1,000 new classrooms by 2025.
