"Skillful mass mobilization" contributes to economic development

In recent years, many good models and effective methods in the "Skilled Mass Mobilization" Movement in various areas of social life have been promoted and expanded by the Party Committee and government of Dong Thanh commune, Thanh Ba district. The most prominent are the skillful mass mobilization models in economic development that have contributed to changing the face of the new countryside in the locality.

Dong Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative, Thanh Ba district invested in peanut oil production machine, bringing high economic efficiency.

Dong Thanh Commune Party Committee has directed the commune's mass mobilization bloc to coordinate with organizations and unions to propagate and mobilize people to choose suitable economic development models to deploy and replicate such as: Establishing cooperatives, branches, and professional farmer associations; guiding people to participate in collective economic models, both helping each other develop the economy and effectively building product brands.

Mr. Vi Huu Khuong's melon growing model in Zone 8 is one of the economic development models that the commune's mass mobilization bloc has promoted and encouraged families to participate in. Taking advantage of the time the land was idle after cultivating the Chiem crop, Mr. Khuong invested in planting nearly 3 hectares of Japanese cucumbers. In the first year, his family harvested 30 tons of melons, worth nearly 300 million VND.

Mr. Khuong shared: “At first, my family also encountered difficulties because this was a new melon variety, not knowing whether it was suitable for local soil conditions or not, but thanks to the propaganda and mobilization of the commune's mass mobilization group, along with technical guidance, planting and care from the manufacturer and seed supplier, my family tried planting it and initially achieved good quality. This year, I will continue to participate in the model with the desire to develop the family economy effectively...”.

Dong Thanh Commune currently has over 90 hectares of peanut growing land with a yield of nearly 21 quintals/ha. In 2021, seizing that advantage, Dong Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative came up with the idea of ​​investing in machinery and producing peanut oil products under the Dong Thanh Peanut Oil brand, contributing to the implementation of the "One Commune One Product" OCOP Program.

Mr. Chu Van Tuan - Director of Dong Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative said: From the initial advantages and the attention and support of local authorities and specialized sectors, in 2023, the Cooperative invested in production equipment such as peanut oil presses, oil filters, bottling machines, product labels... which initially brought economic efficiency. In 2024, the Cooperative continued to invest in large capacity oil presses of 50kg/h to meet the service needs of the people, on average the Cooperative pressed over 6 tons of peanuts/year, bringing in a profit of nearly 100 million VND. Up to now, Dong Thanh peanut oil products have been invested in production, have traceability stamps and achieved 3-star OCOP products.

It can be seen that the mass mobilization bloc of Dong Thanh commune has propagated and mobilized people to participate in the peanut and melon growing model, and young party members to develop the economy with the grape growing model, raising chickens, pigs, and purple tea... contributing to bringing positive results.

To create conditions for people to develop the economy, the Commune Party Committee directed the associations to maintain credit groups to borrow capital from different sources; regularly provide training in science and technology, and enhance the application and transfer of technology in production and business to households.

The commune's mass mobilization block and mass mobilization teams promote propaganda and mobilize people to participate in economic models to increase product value, at the same time, connect and share experiences, choose suitable models, find markets and consumption sources to develop together...

Comrade Vi Van Phuc - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Thanh commune said: Mass mobilization work has been proactively and actively deployed widely to all classes of people by the mass mobilization bloc of the commune. Through models, people have boldly invested, transformed the structure, focused on developing the economy towards goods, bringing high income, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development. Currently, the average income per capita in the commune has reached more than 52 million VND/year, the poverty rate has decreased to 3.8%, the commune has achieved the status of an advanced new rural commune by 2023.
