Dam Ha: Efforts to preserve and promote cultural values

Over the years, besides   caring for and developing people's material life,   Dam Ha district also always focuses on preserving and promoting the value of local cultural heritage, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.

Dam Ha district has 13 ethnic groups living together, of which ethnic minorities account for 31% of the population. The people of all ethnic groups in the district are always united, inheriting and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation. The whole district currently has 4 relics ranked at the provincial level, 3 folk artists (of which artist Dang Thi Tu was awarded the title of People's Artist), 17 types of folk performing arts, 5 types of social customs that have been inventoried...

In recent times, Party committees and authorities at all levels in the district have always paid attention to directing and synchronously implementing solutions to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritages, especially for cultural heritages that are typical and bear the mark of the locality; linking the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritages with socio-economic development. 100% of communes and towns have established Monument Management Boards, developed operating regulations of the Monument Management Boards, clearly defined responsibilities in managing, protecting and promoting the value of monuments against negative impacts of the natural environment and humans, thereby protecting and promoting the value of monuments in the area.

Dam Ha also always pays attention to the work of preserving and promoting the value of heritage, especially the cultural heritage of ethnic minorities, such as: Establishing and maintaining the Nha To singing clubs (Dam Ha commune), San Co singing and traditional Dao ethnic costume sewing and embroidery (Quang An commune), recreating the traditional festivals of Trang Y communal house (Dai Binh commune), Dai Phan festival of San Diu ethnic group (Quang An commune)...

In March 2024, Dam Ha commune launched the Nha To Singing Club in schools (primary and secondary schools). The club organizes weekly learning sessions on Thursdays with the direct guidance of People's Artist Dang Thi Tu and the club members of the commune. At the end of September 2024, Dam Ha town established and launched the Nha To Singing Club - singing and dancing at the communal house. This is an art form that has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage and is currently preserved with its own unique and distinctive features at communal house festivals in Dam Ha district...

The management, protection, restoration, embellishment and promotion of the value of relics are carried out in accordance with the Law on Cultural Heritage. From 2018 to now, the district has had 3/4 provincial relics renovated and restored. The inventoried relics are also being renovated.

Every year, the district organizes the Cultural - Sports Festival of ethnic groups, attracting a large number of people to participate; restores the typical cultural features of the Dam Ha and Trang Y communal house festivals; enhances the collection and compilation of tangible and intangible cultural values ​​of ethnic groups in the area; creates a favorable cultural environment for good traditional cultural values ​​to be promoted in community life.

The district has established an interdisciplinary inspection team, which annually develops a plan to inspect food safety and hygiene activities, the environment, activities taking place in the management, organization of festivals, and tourism activities taking place at the relic site. Thereby, it has promptly resolved the reflections of the people and tourists, not causing public outrage, and at the same time promptly detected and corrected negative aspects in the management of the relics according to the provisions of the Heritage Law.

Along with that, Dam Ha always pays attention to the work of educating cultural traditions for the young generation; encourages the opening of classes to teach ethnic languages, and teaches the singing skills of each ethnic group to the people. Thereby, preserving and promoting the good traditional cultural values ​​of the ethnic communities in the area in an effective and sustainable manner.
