Faced with the increasing demand for electricity nationwide, 7 thermal power plants in the province have focused on many solutions with the highest spirit and effort to ensure that the generators always have high availability, ready to meet the dispatch needs of the National Power System. In the first 6 months of this year, the province's total electricity output reached 20.4 billion kWh (101.1% of the plan).
Quang Ninh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company operates 4 units with a total installed capacity of 1,200 MW, contributing an average of over 7 billion kWh of electricity to the national power system each year. In the first 6 months of 2024, the units of Quang Ninh Thermal Power Plant operated safely, meeting the mobilization requirements of the System. By the end of June 2024, the Company produced over 4.2 billion kWh (103% of the electricity output plan for the first 6 months of 2024). With this output, the Company has produced 170 million kWh more than the output in the same period of 2023, contributing to ensuring electricity supply for socio-economic development and ensuring people's lives. To prepare the generators to operate at maximum capacity during the peak dry season, right from the beginning of the year, Quang Ninh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company proactively proposed solutions for equipment systems that have a great impact on the generators' capacity factor, such as: the factory's circulating cooling water system, coal processing system, etc.; directed the units directly managing the operation to strengthen the inspection and supervision of equipment to promptly detect defects as well as urge the operating staff to strictly follow the process to avoid subjective incidents that affect the generators' power generation capacity. In addition to improving the operation management, the repair work is also carried out according to the set plan. The company directed the repair unit to arrange enough staff to promptly detect and thoroughly fix defects so as not to affect the generators' power generation capacity. Thanks to that, the experience in control has been promoted well, incidents have been reduced, the rate of machine downtime due to incidents in the first 6 months of the year of the Company decreased to 1.62% compared to the standard target of 2.74%.
Currently, the Steering Committee is implementing the Company's tasks of ensuring power generation in the 2024 dry season, widely launching the emulation movement "120 days of maximum effort to ensure sufficient power in the 2024 dry season" to all employees of the Company, with the highest determination to successfully complete the 2024 dry season power supply plan as well as the 2024 production and business plan.
For Uong Bi Thermal Power Company, in the first 6 months of the year, the Company produced over 2.1 billion kWh (reaching nearly 100% of the dry season electricity output plan assigned by the Corporation and reaching 96% compared to the same period in 2023). Mr. Do Trung Kien, Director of Uong Bi Thermal Power Company, shared: The Company closely followed the direction of Vietnam Electricity Group and Power Generation Corporation 1, establishing a Steering Committee to ensure electricity supply in 2024. The Committee directed and operated production, electricity market, assigned specific tasks to each department and unit, focused all resources to ensure sufficient coal supply for generators, safe and reliable operation of generators... The operating force at positions at the plant closely monitored equipment, recorded operating log parameters according to regulations. From there, forecast and early detect equipment defects that arise to have a plan for the repair force to prepare materials and human resources reasonably, scientifically repair in a timely manner to ensure the equipment of the unit operates safely. Periodically every month, the Subcommittee presides over a report on the results of implementing solutions, from which the company's leaders review and adjust accordingly to the production situation.
To contribute to stabilizing the power grid's capacity demand in 2024 and contributing to the province's overall growth scenario, in June 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade worked with 7 thermal power plants in the province to find a direction for electricity production in the last months of the year. The Department of Industry and Trade requested that power plants continue to closely coordinate with TKV, Dong Bac Corporation and related units in ensuring coal supply for electricity production activities according to signed contracts. The plants need to strengthen technical adjustments to generators and equipment lines to ensure maximum power production when mobilized by the system, striving for electricity output in the last 6 months of 2024 to reach about 17.6 billion kWh. At the same time, it is necessary to promote solutions to handle ash and slag consumption of factories (Dong Trieu Thermal Power Plant, Thang Long Thermal Power Plant, Quang Ninh Thermal Power Plant, Thang Long Thermal Power Plant and Mong Duong 2 Thermal Power Plant) to ensure that the amount of ash and slag remaining in the slag dump does not exceed 2 years of production according to the design capacity.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, shared: Currently, factories are facing difficulties in ensuring electricity production plans due to heavy rain, the mobilized capacity of the National Power System Control Center is at its lowest capacity. Regarding the content of the proposal to prioritize the maximum mobilization of the generating capacity of thermal power plants, providing enough capacity to serve production, business and daily life activities in the province in 2024, the Provincial People's Committee has v Report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Electricity Group interested in supporting .
