Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark was recognized by UNESCO as a Global Geopark in July 2020. Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark covers an area of 4,760km2, with about 65 geological and geomorphological heritage sites. Including a system of nearly 50 caves with a total length of more than 10,000m, still containing many mysteries.
Dak Nong Provincial Geopark continues to be recognized by UNESCO as a global geopark for the second time, period 2024 - 2027.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Van Muoi, Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee, said that this title marks an important turning point, bringing Dak Nong province into the UNESCO Global Geopark Network, including 213 destinations in 48 countries around the world.
Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark plays a strategic role in the socio-economic development of the province. Developing tourism based on promoting natural advantages, cultural values - indigenous ecological characteristics, Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark is one of the three pillars of the local economy. In addition, the conservation of landscapes, geological and cultural values and raising public awareness have been implemented synchronously, helping Dak Nong increasingly affirm its position on the international tourism map.
