Youth Union members nationwide actively participate in building new rural areas

DTO - On the afternoon of April 17, in Hanoi, comrade Nguyen Tuong Lam - Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union (VYU) and comrade Nguyen Kim Quy - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Central Committee of the Youth Front, Permanent Vice President of the VYU co-chaired the national online conference to review and evaluate the results of the Youth Union's participation in implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development (NTM) for the period 2021 - 2025, and propose the period 2026 - 2030.

Accordingly, implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction for the 2021-2025 period, Youth Union chapters at all levels across the country advised Party committees and authorities to proactively deploy the movement "Youth join hands to build New Rural Areas", register, undertake and mobilize resources to carry out many youth projects associated with the construction of rural socio-economic infrastructure in localities. Activities to participate in New Rural Construction are concentrated on occasions such as Youth Month and the annual Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign. In the 2021-2025 period, Youth Union chapters at all levels across the country planted more than 82.5 million trees, built more than 8,926km of "lighting up the countryside" routes; supported the repair and construction of more than 84,300km of new rural roads; built 1,485 rural traffic bridges, 1,888 Red Scarf houses... At the same time, organized many activities to consult and introduce jobs for union members and young people; supported loans and techniques for more than 6,200 economic models of young people. Thereby, contributing to the locality in effectively implementing the work of building new rural areas.

At the conference, delegates at the conference points reported and shared experiences in disseminating and raising awareness of union members and youths to participate in building advanced and exemplary new rural areas; implementing new rural areas in association with the implementation of the model "Worth living village"; applying digital transformation in the agricultural sector... in the locality.

Concluding the conference, comrade Nguyen Tuong Lam - Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Youth Union of Vietnam, proposed that in the period of 2026 - 2030, Youth Union chapters at all levels nationwide continue to identify participation in building new rural areas as an important task of the Youth Union; promote the pioneering and creative role in propaganda, raising awareness among union members, young people and people about the meaning and requirements of administrative unit arrangement and implementation of the National Target Program on building new rural areas. Promote propaganda on innovative ways of doing things, applying scientific and technological advances to production, shifting the structure of crops and livestock as a premise for young people to rise up from poverty and become rich legitimately.

At the same time, pay attention to connecting and supporting young people to start businesses and establish careers; guide rural youth to participate in building cultural life; improve digital capacity for young people and people through the digital literacy program; continue to develop teams of young volunteer intellectuals to participate in supporting localities in building new rural areas.

On this occasion, the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union awarded Certificates of Merit to many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction for the 2021-2025 period.
