In 2024, Hanoi University plans to enroll 3,300 students, an increase of nearly 200 compared to last year, and stop 5 high-quality programs.

Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice President of Hanoi University, said on March 4 that this is to implement the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, eliminating high-quality programs according to the Ministry's criteria. Instead, the school opens 6 advanced programs in the fields of English Language, Korean Language, Italian Language, Chinese Language, Information Technology, and Tourism and Travel Services Management.

According to Mr. Dung, the school references training programs from many prestigious universities in the world, designed with clear career orientation, increasing practice time, and internships at domestic and foreign enterprises. All advanced programs use 100% foreign languages in specialized knowledge blocks.

"In addition, the school opened a new school and enrolled 75 students in Financial Technology," said Mr. Dung.

Three admission methods remain stable as in previous years, including direct admission and priority admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; combined admission according to regulations of Hanoi University and admission based on high school graduation exam scores in 2024.

Hanoi University uses 8 admission combinations, from D01 to D06 and DD2, with three subjects: Math, Literature, and Foreign Language. In the Foreign Language subject, candidates can use their scores from English, Russian, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese for admission, depending on the major. In addition, the school uses combination A01 (Math, Physics, English) for some majors other than languages.

The combined admission method is for candidates with international certificates or foreign language proficiency certificates according to the 6-level foreign language proficiency framework for Vietnam; with competency assessment test scores of Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City from 105/150 and 850/1200 or higher, respectively; thinking assessment test scores of Hanoi University of Science and Technology from 21/30 (organized in the 2023-2024 school year); students of specialized classes and bilingual classes at specialized high schools.

If using international standardized test scores, candidates need to achieve a minimum of 1100/1600 points for SAT, 24/36 points for ACT or 60/100 points for A-Level each subject.

Candidates who won third prize in provincial or municipal competitions or higher; were members of the national excellent student team in grades 11 and 12; participated in national science and technology competitions organized by the Ministry of Education and Training; and participated in the monthly round of the Road to Olympia competition in the 2023-2024 school year are also eligible for this category.

The above groups of candidates need to meet the general criteria of having an average foreign language score and an average score of 5 high school semesters (except semester 2 of grade 12) of 7 or higher.

Admission quotas and subject combinations for majors of Hanoi University in 2024 are as follows:

Hanoi University opens Financial Technology major - 1
Hanoi University opens Financial Technology major - 2

With the admission method based on the 2024 high school exam results, the total score for admission includes the priority score (if any) and the score of the main exam subject multiplied by a factor of 2, ranked from high to low. The calculation of the score is as follows: Math score + Literature score + (Foreign Language score x 2) + (priority score x 4/3).

For Financial Technology, Information Technology, Advanced Program Information Technology and Multimedia Communications, the scoring formula is: Math score + Foreign Language score (coefficient 1) + Physics score (or Literature) + priority score (coefficient 1).

Last year, the benchmark score according to the high school graduation exam results of Hanoi University ranged from 24.2 to 36.15 points on a scale of 40. The highest was for Korean Language, followed by Chinese Language and English Language with benchmark scores of 35.75 and 35.38 points.
