Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuan, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City, has just spoken out about the "poor" boarding meals at a primary school in the area.

Specifically, after receiving information reflecting on the meal with only a few slices of food at Nui Thanh Primary School (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City), the Department of Education and Training quickly coordinated with the District Education and Training Department and the school's Board of Directors to inspect and review the entire process of organizing the meal that day.

Ms. Thuan emphasized that the education sector always attaches importance to professional work and boarding organization, to ensure that students are well cared for in both nutrition and learning environment.

The Da Nang Department of Education and Training has directed its affiliated Departments of Education and Training to strengthen inspection and supervision of the quality of boarding meals; at the same time, regularly implement guidance documents to improve student care standards in schools.

Along with that, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee, requested the Department of Education and Training to direct boarding schools to pay special attention to the quality of meals. Ms. Thi also emphasized the need to publicize and make the menu transparent so that parents can easily monitor and evaluate.

According to Ms. Thi, parents are encouraged to visit the student's meals at any time, without prior registration. This is to give parents peace of mind that their children are being fully cared for and guaranteed nutrition at school.

Previously, social networks in Da Nang City were abuzz with information and pictures of what was said to be a lunch at Nui Thanh Primary School. The post stated that "the lunch was not good at all" and expressed concern that with the quality, the children would not have enough energy for the afternoon classes.

The attached photo shows a tray of rice with some spring rolls, stir-fried cabbage and white rice. Ms. Phan Thi Tuyet Lan, Principal of Nui Thanh Primary School, said the above information is not true. The photo was taken when the wardens were in the process of distributing food on March 25.

The meal that day included: pork roll with soy sauce, sour soup with fish cake, stir-fried la gim (vegetables) with lean meat, rice cakes for dessert and beef and mung bean porridge for snack.

The principal of Nui Thanh Primary School said that the school closely monitors the quality of the meals. The meals are nutritionally quantified to ensure they are sufficient for the students, and have been prepared according to standards since the beginning of the school year. Each meal costs 28,000 VND, including lunch and snacks.

Early in the morning, the school's inspectors or union will come to the kitchen to check the quality, quantity and food safety issues.

Boarding meals are divided into classes, and the warden is responsible for dividing the food portions onto trays.

Ms. Lan affirmed that at any time parents want to learn about the boarding meals, they can come to the school to directly visit and grasp the situation.
