According to a VNA reporter in Korea, on May 21, the "Vietnam Day 2023" festival took place at Jungoe Park, Gwangju City, Korea.
The festival, organized by the Vietnamese Association in Jeonnam-Gwangju in coordination with the Gwangju City Council, aims to promote and spread the traditional and unique cultural features of Vietnam to international friends, as well as create a space to enhance cultural exchange and sharing between Vietnam and Korea.
Although the program only took place in one day, with many unique and meaningful activities, it attracted the attention of the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Korea.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Phong, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Gwangju-jeonnam, shared: The Association has cooperated with Gwangju city and the Korean Governors' Association (GAROK) to organize "Vietnam Day 2023" with the desire to spread the culture and image of the country and people of Vietnam to Korean and international friends, as well as promote economic and political cooperation and exchange between Vietnam and Korea in general and between Nghe An province and Gwangju city in particular.
This is also a good opportunity for the community to meet, exchange, and create a bridge of solidarity and mutual support among Vietnamese people living, studying and working in the area.
Gwangju Mayor Kang Gi Jung expressed his hope that through “Vietnam Day 2023,” people-to-people diplomacy and local-to-local diplomacy between Korea and Vietnam will be further expanded.
GAROK Secretary General, Mr. Yu Min Bong, commented that "Vietnam Day 2023" is an opportunity for everyone to experience Vietnamese culture and access products of large Vietnamese enterprises.
Mr. Yu Min Bong said that this is an opportunity for Vietnamese people living in Gwangju to share their homesickness; at the same time, it opens up opportunities to renew cooperation and exchange between Gwangju city and its sister unit Nghe An province.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Nguyen Vu Tung attended the ceremony and expressed his intention to continue to support and accompany the Gwangju city government, GAROK and the Vietnamese Association in Gwangju in implementing meaningful activities, contributing to strengthening local cooperation and people-to-people exchange between Vietnam and Korea, as well as supporting Nghe An province and Gwangju city in the future cooperation process.
Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Nghe An province, Mr. Nguyen Nam Dinh, commented that "Vietnam Day 2023" in Gwangju is a vivid demonstration of cooperation and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Korea , between Nghe An province and Gwangju city.
This is an opportunity to introduce to the people of Gwangju city the traditional culture of Nghe An, especially the Nghe Tinh Vi Giam folk song, which has been recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Within the framework of "Vietnam Day 2023", Nghe An Provincial Art Performance Troupe performed folk art performances imbued with the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people.
In addition, the performance of Ao Dai, the experience of traditional costumes, the experience of the unique cuisine of the three regions of North-Central-South (pho, hu tieu, goi cuon, banh 3 mien, sugarcane juice, fresh coconut...), as well as folk games such as making bamboo dragonflies, traditional houses, lotus lanterns... attracted the attention of many participants.
Through the festival " Vietnam Day 2023 ," international students in particular and Vietnamese people in Korea in general have had more opportunities to meet, exchange and spread love for the beauty of traditional culture./.
