Campaign "Thousand national flags flying" of the Vietnamese community in Japan

The program is organized by the Vietnam-Japan Cultural Promotion Organization (VJCP) and prestigious associations of the Vietnamese community in Japan. In particular, the campaign "Thousand national flags flying" launched by the program's Organizing Committee has created a wave of pride and excitement to participate in the program among the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Japan as well as international friends in Japan.

According to Mr. Do Hai Khoi, Chairman of the Vietnam - Japan Global Cultural Promotion Organization - VJCP, the Vietnam Heart Festival was conceived and conceptualized at the end of 2024, aiming to create a meaningful and proud program for the Vietnamese community in Japan in particular and overseas Vietnamese in general on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification. The event has received great attention and sponsorship from the Higashiosaka City Government, Osaka Prefecture, Japan.

Talking about the reason for choosing the beginning of May to organize the event, instead of April 30, Mr. Do Hai Khoi - Head of the program's organizing committee said: "The beginning of May is the time of the Golden Week holiday (one of the biggest holidays of the year in Japan), so many Vietnamese workers will have a day off. We hope that Vietnamese people far from the Fatherland, especially young Vietnamese people, will have the opportunity to participate in the event to express national pride and patriotism, as well as remember the merits of previous generations who sacrificed their blood and bones to bring the country to unity and peace in the past 50 years, thereby having more awareness and responsibility in building and protecting the Fatherland in the future".

According to director Huy Lio - Production Director and General Director of the program, there will be 2 leading Vietnamese artists (representing artists from the North and South) along with many young artists, art groups of Vietnam and international art organizations in Japan participating in the performance. In addition, the special highlight of the program is the Campaign "Thousands of National Flags Flying". The organizing committee has ordered and transported 10,000 national flags to Japan since March to distribute for free to the audience when attending the program, to join in the meaningful songs about the homeland of the artists on stage.

Director Huy Lio added that it was the touching images of 50 national flags fluttering in the wind on the stage of the Spring Homeland - Vietnam Heart event earlier this year in Japan, which he directed, that made him and the Organizing Committee of the Vietnam Heart Festival determined to do something bigger on this occasion of the 50th anniversary of National Reunification.

Director Huy Lio also hopes that the image of “Thousands of national flags flying” on the baseball field in Hanazono Park (1.5 times larger than My Dinh Stadium) will inspire patriotism and national pride in every child living abroad.
