At 1:30 a.m. on December 19, flight number QG870 from Jakarta International Airport brought 170 Indonesian tourists to Da Nang city.
Immediately after arriving in Da Nang, visitors were welcomed by representatives of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Operation Joint Stock Company, representatives of the alliance of Indonesian and Da Nang travel companies with special gifts and publications introducing the destination.
Indonesian tourists on the flight will have 4 days to visit famous destinations in Da Nang city such as Sun World Ba Na Hills Tourist Area, Ngu Hanh Son Scenic Area, APEC Park... as well as experience culinary and entertainment activities in Da Nang city.
The Jakarta (Indonesia) - Da Nang route this time is a charter flight by an alliance of Indonesian and Da Nang travel companies renting an A320 aircraft from Citilink Indonesia Airlines for trial operation from December 2024 to January 2025 with 07 flights, expected to bring more than 1,200 Indonesian visitors to experience Da Nang. If positive results are achieved, this route will be upgraded to a regular route in 2025.
Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Hoai An said that Indonesia is a potential market for Da Nang tourism. In recent times, Da Nang city has actively implemented promotional activities in this market, organized 2 promotional programs to meet with travel agencies, airlines and welcomed 2 Famtrip delegations of 70 Indonesian travel agencies to survey Da Nang tourism.
"Opening this route will open up opportunities to connect Da Nang with the 280 million-strong Indonesian market," said Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism.
According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Xoang - General Director of HAVA Travel, Da Nang is a very new destination for Indonesian people and currently there are no direct flights.
"Initially, we and Indonesian travel agencies will operate charter flights to gradually assess the market's potential and strengthen the connection between Da Nang and Indonesian tourists. This will be the premise for promoting the opening of regular flights in the coming time," said Mr. Xoang.
Indonesia is among the Southeast Asian markets that Da Nang tourism industry has been promoting in recent times with the following activities: participating in the ITB ASIA Fair (Singapore); organizing promotional programs in Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia; promoting the attraction of 3 new airlines including Malaysia Airlines, Royal Air Philippines, Citilink Indonesia; welcoming famtrip, presstrip, KOLs from Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia to experience Da Nang tourism to support promotion.
In the first 11 months of 2024, Da Nang welcomed more than 38,000 Indonesian visitors, nearly 1.5 times higher than the whole year of 2023. Along with the new market of Indonesia, other Southeast Asian markets including Singapore, the Philippines, and Malaysia all showed positive growth signals in 2024.
With the orientation of diversifying the market, Da Nang tourism industry has been increasing promotional activities to new markets such as Indonesia, encouraging businesses to invest and upgrade products friendly to Muslim guests such as prayer rooms, accommodation facilities, restaurants meeting Halal standards. At the same time, the Department of Tourism has organized seminars to share experiences in serving and preparing products and culinary services for the Muslim market.
