Indian Wedding Travel Destinations

Da Nang City is becoming an attractive destination for the Indian tourist market, with more than 20 Indian wedding events in the past 2 years and 6 weddings expected to be held in the first months of 2024.

After many surveys, the Indian family chose Da Nang City as the place to hold the wedding ceremony for the bride Kashmira and groom Inderdeep from January 19 to January 21, 2024. Nearly 500 guests, service staff and more than 1 ton of materials, costumes and props were transported from India to Da Nang to prepare for the wedding.

In addition, all 258 rooms at the Sheraton Grand Da Nang Resort and Convention Center have been fully rented to serve guests attending the wedding.

Next, the wedding of bride Heena Paryani and groom Bhisham Ramchandani took place from February 29 to March 2, 2024, also demonstrating the lavishness of Indian weddings as well as the potential of Vietnam as a destination for wedding tourism products. An estimated 250 guests from Hong Kong, the Philippines, India, the US, etc. attended the wedding.

It is expected that in the coming months, there will be 5 more wedding events of Indian brides and grooms held in Da Nang, with wedding parties ranging from 200 to 350 guests. In addition, the hotels also received dozens of wedding events of couples from Japan and several other countries.

Mr. Prabhakar Singh (Parker) - Director of Sales and Marketing of Furama Danang Resort believes that with its long beautiful coastline, Ba Na cable car system as well as its advantage of being located in the center of world cultural heritages, Danang will be an ideal destination for tourists from the Indian and Northeast Asian markets (China, Korea, Japan, etc.) to visit, travel and organize weddings.

Linking to develop specialized tourism products

The Global Market Report on Wedding Destinations 2023 shows that the wedding tourism market has a steady annual growth rate of 32.8%.

The total market value is around $101.3 billion and is expected to increase to $134.4 billion by 2027. The average cost of a wedding is around $33,000 (nearly VND 780 million), the actual figure can range from $5,000 to $500,000 depending on the country.

In 2023, the international wedding market will be led by North America ($28.8 billion), followed by Asia ($23 billion), Europe, South America and the Caribbean. Australia, Africa and the Middle East will account for the smallest share (15%) of the wedding market.

To develop the wedding service ecosystem, it is necessary to create a complete product package, including tourism combined with accommodation, travel, and transportation.

In the coming time, Da Nang tourism industry needs to coordinate with Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue provinces to build service products and unique tour experiences that suit the tastes of wedding tourists.

Cooperation between hotels, travel agencies, and tourism businesses in Da Nang and provinces in the Central region to form large-scale, strong-brand businesses, participate more deeply in the global tourism chain, and build products to stimulate annual wedding tourism.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An - Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism shared that since 2023, Da Nang tourism industry has implemented promotional activities for domestic and international wedding events, targeting potential wedding markets such as India and Northeast Asia.

In 2023, the total number of Indian visitors to Da Nang reached 68,753, accounting for nearly 50% of the structure of international visitors to Vietnam and nearly 5% of international visitors to Da Nang.

Currently, this department is implementing a pilot program to attract wedding tourists to Da Nang, welcoming famtrip, presstrip, and wedding planner groups to survey and experience wedding tourism services, integrating wedding tourism product promotion into promotional activities and organizing wedding events.
