Diversity of effective agricultural models in Quang Ninh commune

In recent years, Quang Ninh commune (Quang Xuong) has seen the emergence of many agricultural models that bring high economic efficiency, helping farmers have stable incomes. From there, it has accelerated the process of building advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas, towards "safe and sustainable" agriculture.

Diversity of effective agricultural models in Quang Ninh commune The Buddha's hand growing model of Mr. Do Sy Nham's family brings high economic efficiency.

In Tho Thai village, Mr. Le Chi Loi's Egyptian chicken breeding model is one of the production models that is recognized as effective and brings high income. Starting his business in 2019, Mr. Loi has now expanded his scale into a comprehensive farm to raise egg-laying chickens, dig fish ponds and grow fruit trees. Of which, more than 4,000m2 is dedicated to building 4 chicken coops with 26,000 chickens on a closed scale, all of which are Egyptian super egg chickens. Monitoring the market, realizing that this breed of chicken has a high egg yield, high nutrition, firm meat, high yolk ratio and good disease resistance, Mr. Loi has researched and learned from other provinces the breeding process in the direction of biosafety to provide the market with the highest quality eggs.

According to Mr. Loi: “First of all, to ensure the livestock area is clean, farmers must build barns in a high place, keep warm in winter, cool in summer and far from residential areas. In particular, the barn must be lined with rice husks, sprinkled with lime and sprayed with disinfectants and poisons. In addition, chicken feed needs to be supplemented with 2-3 times more stone powder and oyster shells for chickens to create eggshells, and at the same time use an additional 8-10% of germinated rice in the feed to increase fertility. In addition, in the stage of reserve chickens, farmers need to pay special attention to fully vaccinating the flock, this determines the fertility later on.”

Thanks to that, Mr. Loi's family's chickens have grown healthily, productively and without disease. With the current number of chickens, they lay 12,000 eggs per day, sold on the market for 28,000 VND/dozen. After deducting expenses, Mr. Loi earns a profit of nearly 2 billion VND per year.

As a person who always has the will to progress and be creative, Mr. Do Sy Nham boldly brought the Buddha's hand tree variety to grow on his hometown land in Quang Ninh commune, this is considered one of the new production models but brings unexpected results. With more than 1 hectare of land, Mr. Nham has converted to growing 500 Buddha's hand trees. However, this is a rather "difficult" crop, sensitive to the weather, to have beautiful fruit requires meticulous care. According to Mr. Nham, in addition to fertilizing, spraying fungicides, pests... growers need to cut off deep, small branches to help the tree be airy, increase the ability to photosynthesize and develop in balance. When the tree is large, it is necessary to make a trellis, tie each fruit firmly to avoid collision, affecting the appearance and losing the value of the fruit. In addition, there should not be too many fruits on the tree trunk, causing the branches to be heavy, the tree to quickly degenerate, causing a decrease in fruit quality. The best season for Buddha's hand trees is during the Lunar New Year and the full moon of the first lunar month, because at that time people's demand for displaying five-fruit trays during Tet increases. With a selling price of 70,000 - 80,000 VND/fruit, after deducting expenses, Mr. Nham's family earns a profit of about 350 million VND. The valuable thing is that Mr. Nham does not hide his "secret", he is willing to share all the techniques of planting and caring for Buddha's hand trees with anyone in need.

In addition to the above models, in Quang Ninh commune, there are many other effective economic models with annual income of hundreds of millions of VND. With the right and effective direction, the movement to convert the structure of crops and livestock according to commodities, forming value chains in agricultural production in Quang Ninh commune is contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of the people, helping to get rich right on the homeland. Up to now, the average income per capita of the commune has reached over 65 million VND/year. In the coming time, Quang Ninh commune will continue to implement solutions to develop agriculture in the direction of large-scale concentration, bringing high economic efficiency. In particular, focusing on implementing the restructuring of crops and livestock, selecting varieties of plants and animals with high productivity, quality, and economic value to put into production. Promoting the application of scientific and technological advances in the production process; Encourage and support farmers to replicate the VietGAP farming model, raise livestock and poultry in a concentrated manner towards biosafety, apply high technology, thereby moving towards safe and sustainable agriculture.
