Accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to present, the city has recorded 2,050 cases of dengue fever, a decrease of 54.5% compared to the same period in 2023.
According to the leader of the Hanoi CDC, the current hot and rainy weather is favorable for mosquitoes to spread dengue fever. It is predicted that the number of cases will continue to increase in the coming time.
According to monitoring results at some dengue fever outbreaks, the number of mosquitoes and ticks still exceeded the risk threshold. Last week, Hanoi also recorded 7 cases of whooping cough, an increase of 2 cases compared to the previous week. Accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to now, the city has recorded 222 cases of whooping cough in 29 districts, towns and cities.
This year, whooping cough has increased dramatically, while in the same period in 2023, Hanoi had no cases of whooping cough. Whooping cough patients are mainly young children who are not old enough to be vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated.

Hai Phong: Number of dengue fever cases exceeds 10,000
According to information from the People's Committee of Hai An District, Hai Phong City, in the face of the complicated developments of the epidemic, local leaders have just organized inspections, supervision and direction of epidemic prevention work in wards in the area.
Hai An District is the locality with the highest number of dengue fever cases compared to the same period in 2023 and ranks second in Hai Phong City after Le Chan District.
As of August 18, 2024, the number of dengue fever cases in the district was 1,632 cases, concentrated in the wards of Dang Lam, Thanh To, Cat Bi... Of which, Dang Lam ward had the highest number of dengue fever cases with more than 600 cases.

According to information from the Hai Phong Department of Health, by the end of August 18, the number of dengue fever cases in the city exceeded 10,000 cases (10,277 cases).
Among the districts, there are 3 localities with the number of cases exceeding 1,500, including: Le Chan District (4,812 cases), Hai An District (1,632 cases) and Ngo Quyen District (1,580 cases).
The remaining districts have a high number of infections, including: An Duong district (441 cases), Kien An district (413 cases), Hong Bang district (357 cases), Vinh Bao district (302 cases)...
Up to now, Hai Phong city has only recorded 1 death due to dengue fever in Le Chan district.
Ho Chi Minh City limits severe cases and deaths from measles
