On the afternoon of August 19, Dong Anh General Hospital (Hanoi) informed that the unit's doctors had just successfully performed surgery to save the life of a man with very critical multiple injuries.
A male patient (42 years old, in Hanoi) was admitted to the Emergency Department (Dong Anh General Hospital) in a state of multiple injuries. Among them, there were 2 neck injuries that severed the neck muscles causing a lot of bleeding, 1 penetrating wound to the left chest causing a rupture of the intercostal muscles, puncturing the lung and pericardium. At this time, the patient was in critical condition, with cyanosis all over his body, difficulty breathing, and respiratory failure with a blood oxygen index of SpO2 of 78%.
Recognizing that this was a very serious case, with the patient’s life in danger, the emergency team at Dong Anh General Hospital raised the “red alert” for the entire hospital, conducted an inter-departmental and inter-hospital consultation, and immediately transferred the patient to the operating room. At the same time, the hospital also immediately contacted doctors from the upper level at Xanh Pon Hospital to assist.
After more than 2 hours of surgery, the patient was saved, bleeding stopped, hemodynamics were stable, and respiration was stable. The patient was then transferred to Xanh Pon General Hospital for further treatment.
Doctor Do Duc Thang, Department of Thoracic Surgery (Xanh Pon Hospital), who participated in the surgical team at Dong Anh General Hospital, said that with the above patient's injuries, if he was not treated promptly at a lower level and transferred directly to a higher level, there was a high risk of death during transport.
