Traffic police will monitor drivers through journey monitoring devices.

(Dan Tri) - According to regulations, journey monitoring devices are installed on commercial transport vehicles, tractors, ambulances, and road traffic rescue vehicles.

According to information from the Traffic Police Department, from January 1, the traffic police force will be assigned the task of managing, operating, and using the data management system of journey monitoring devices and driver image recording devices.

This content is based on the Law on Road Traffic Safety and Order, Decree 151/2024/ND-CP of the Government, Circular 71/2024/TT-BCA of the Ministry of Public Security.

According to regulations, journey monitoring devices are installed on commercial transport vehicles, tractors, ambulances, and road traffic rescue vehicles.

The device that records the driver's image is installed on passenger cars with 8 seats or more for the transport business (not including the driver's seat), tractor-trailers, ambulances, and road traffic rescue vehicles.

The Traffic Police Department said this is to serve the work of ensuring security, order, road traffic safety and handling violations, and state management of road transport.

Data will also be connected and shared with the Ministry of Transport (Vietnam Road Administration), Departments of Transport of provinces and centrally run cities and relevant agencies in accordance with the law.

To strictly implement the above regulations, the Traffic Police Department requests units and service providers of data transmission of journey monitoring devices and driver image recording devices to coordinate in connecting, integrating, testing and transmitting data of journey monitoring devices and driver image recording devices to the Department.

The registration time for the integration test schedule and data transmission in the real environment will be completed before January 25. The Traffic Police Department will assign technical staff to guide units to complete the above content.

Previously, in Circular No. 73/2024, the Ministry of Public Security also stipulated that traffic police units are allowed to exploit data from journey monitoring devices, driver image recording devices, and databases on road traffic order and safety to control, detect and handle violations of laws on road traffic order and safety.
