On March 30, the Ministry of Public Security said that together with other countries and international organizations, Vietnam has also urgently mobilized rescue forces to support Myanmar in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake.
The rescue team of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam consists of 25 officers and soldiers, led by Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong, Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Ministry of Public Security. In addition, the team also includes 2 foreign affairs officers and interpreters, 1 doctor, 22 officers and soldiers, 2 service dogs and rescue vehicles and equipment.
The delegation is expected to arrive in Myanmar on the evening of March 30. During the 10-day period, the Ministry of Public Security's rescue delegation will participate in searching for people, providing medical examination and treatment, participating in activities to overcome the consequences and damage caused by the earthquake, and other activities on the ground as requested by Myanmar, in accordance with the delegation's expertise and capabilities.
The 7.7 magnitude earthquake on March 28 caused great loss of life and property in Myanmar. As of the night of March 29, the Myanmar government updated the death toll from the earthquake to 1,644 and the number of injured to 3,408. In addition, at least 139 cases of missing people were recorded.
