Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong - Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that after learning about the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that occurred in Myanmar, based on the experience of implementing earthquake rescue operations in Turkey in 2023, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force clearly recognized that this was a disaster of an especially serious nature.
"Upon receiving the order from the Ministry's leaders, I held a meeting and discussed with relevant units to prepare forces and equipment. The delegation consisted of 26 people, including highly qualified officers and soldiers, ready to respond to any emergency situation in the earthquake-affected area," Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong affirmed.
The Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department added that the team is expected to carry out its mission for 10 days, because according to international practice, search and rescue activities will take place during this time.
Also at the departure ceremony, Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen - Deputy Minister of Public Security said that this is not the first time the Ministry of Public Security has sent forces to support countries in dealing with natural disasters.
"In 2023, the Ministry sent a working delegation to Türkiye, although it was very far from Vietnamese territory, to participate in and support search and rescue after the earthquake disaster, thereby leaving a beautiful image in the hearts of the Turkish people and international friends as well as arousing the national pride of the Vietnamese people," Deputy Minister Tuyen emphasized.
Before the trip, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen requested the working group to proactively and thoroughly inspect specialized vehicles, military equipment, and supporting machinery provided by the units, ensuring that all essential requirements are met and that they maximize their functions and effects in search and rescue operations as well as in daily life. At the same time, the group must ensure absolute safety and health in all situations, make efforts, not afraid of difficulties and dangers, and actively cooperate with forces in the search and rescue process.
"The officers and soldiers in the working delegation maintained proper etiquette and manners, promoted discipline, solidarity, mutual love, mutual support, and promoted the qualities and qualities of a soldier of the Vietnam People's Public Security.
