That was one of the contents assessed at the first 6-month 2024 meeting of the provincial and municipal Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negative Behavior (PCTNTC), chaired by Comrade Phan Dinh Trac, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for PCTNTC, held on the morning of July 8 in Hanoi.

Comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negative Affairs and Comrade Hoang Thai Phuc, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, Permanent Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negative Affairs attended the conference at the Thai Binh bridge.

Attending the conference at Thai Binh bridge point were comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption; comrades of the Provincial Standing Committee, members of the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the activities of the provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Disruption have seen many clear changes. Notably, the activities of most provincial Steering Committees have become increasingly systematic, methodical, substantive and effective; they have paid attention to directing the strengthening of inspection, supervision and audit work, improving the effectiveness of coordination between functional agencies in detecting and handling corruption and negativity, especially complicated, prolonged, difficult and entangled cases and incidents; and proactively detecting, prosecuting, investigating and strictly handling a number of new cases and incidents related to violations that occurred in previous years and newly arising violations. Since the beginning of the year, the provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Disruption has received and processed 1,528 petitions; transferred 640 complaints, denunciations and reports on corruption and negativity to competent agencies for settlement; 74 cases, 33 complicated corruption and negative incidents that the public is concerned about occurring in the area were put under monitoring and direction; 456 new cases/1,265 defendants were prosecuted for corruption crimes, 823 defendants who are cadres and party members were prosecuted for negative behavior; 73 cases/64 defendants were prosecuted for corruption and negative crimes in the non-state sector. Local enforcement agencies have recovered nearly 500 billion VND/1,306 billion VND of total assets lost and misappropriated in corruption and negative cases. Propaganda and education on PCTNTC continue to receive attention. The role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the press and the people in anti-corruption has been promoted by the steering committees... The results achieved continue to affirm the role and necessity of the provincial steering committees in leading and directing anti-corruption work at the local level, thereby actively contributing to the work of Party building and rectification, consolidating the trust of cadres, party members and people in the Party's anti-corruption work.

At the conference, delegates were informed of the content of Regulation No. 132-QD/TW, dated October 27, 2023 of the Politburo on controlling power, preventing and combating corruption and negativity in investigation, prosecution, trial and execution activities; focusing on discussing and finding solutions to overcome and remove difficulties and obstacles in performing tasks in the coming time.

Concluding the conference, Comrade Phan Dinh Trac, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Transparency, requested that in the coming time, the provincial steering committees continue to direct and advise on the effective implementation of the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State on Anti-Corruption and Transparency; in conjunction with implementing policies on Party building and rectification, setting examples, combating degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, "self-evolution", "self-transformation" among cadres and Party members. Lead and direct the timely implementation of the conclusions of the General Secretary, Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Transparency at meetings and conferences on Anti-Corruption and Transparency. Continue to direct and advise on the preliminary and final review of the Party's directives and resolutions and the State's laws on Anti-Corruption and Transparency. It is necessary to consistently implement the four goals of "cannot, dare not, do not want, do not need" of corruption prevention and control in the work of anti-corruption. Focus on innovating and improving the quality of propaganda and education on anti-corruption. Continue to direct functional sectors to strengthen inspection, supervision, audit, focusing on areas prone to corruption and negativity, specialized areas, closed activities, prominent, urgent issues, and issues of public concern in the area. Improve the effectiveness of self-inspection and inspection to detect and handle corruption and negativity within the organization. Focus on leading and directing the work of detecting and handling corruption and negativity; speed up the investigation and handling of cases and incidents in localities, especially cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the provincial steering committee and assigned by the Central Steering Committee to localities for direction and handling; promote anti-corruption work in the non-state sector. Innovate content and methods, continue to promote the role and responsibility, and improve the effectiveness of the provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control to be truly scientific, disciplined, and effective.
