On the afternoon of June 10, at the Press Center (Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City), a press conference was held regarding the case of the manager of the Trang Khuyet Inn abusing Ms. T. (85 years old), causing a stir in public opinion.
Ms. PNĐ. - Ms. T.'s daughter expressed her heartache when she learned that her mother was treated badly at the shelter.
According to Ms. D., due to family difficulties and no one to take care of her, she trusted and sent her mother to Trang Khuyet Inn. Ms. D. hopes that the authorities will restore justice for Ms. T. and thank those who took care of her mother.
" My family is poor. I have to work for hire, I can't take care of my mother, she has no place to stay. We sent her here but we didn't expect her to be tortured like this, people beat her," Ms. PND choked.
Also at the press conference, Mr. P. - the person who filmed the clip of Ms. T. being beaten and posted it on social media - said that currently, the authorities have intervened and he has stopped sharing related documents in accordance with the law.
" I think what I did was right because knowing someone committed a crime but not reporting it is complicity, I don't want to be an accomplice. From today, I have nothing to do with the Crescent Moon Company," Mr. P. said.

Mr. Do Luong Dai Nam - Founder and Acting CEO of Trang Khuyet Charity and Social Protection Fund Company Limited (Trang Khuyet Company) - admitted that the company and its branches do not have a license to operate in the field of social protection.
Currently, the Crescent Moon Company has 5 locations to take care of the elderly and 1 location to take care of pregnant women. After the recent incident of beating up the elderly, only 1 location remains in operation.
Regarding recruitment, Mr. Nam said that the company does not have specific recruitment regulations. The model of these facilities is that the elderly take care of each other. Mr. Huynh Van Gioi - the person who abused Ms. T. - is also a member of the shelter. Because he is healthy and agile, Mr. Gioi takes it upon himself to take care of the weaker elderly people.
" We do not know the regulations on elderly care. We assume that the elderly are guests. Instead of having to pay for a place to stay, here they are paid by a third party," a representative of Trang Khuyet Company acknowledged.

Previously, on May 23, social media posted many clips recording a weak old woman being cursed, beaten, and kicked by a man at the Moonlit Inn. During the beatings, the man pointed at the old woman and shouted "go in, I said go in", despite the old woman's pleas and explanations.
The clips circulating on social media have made many people angry at the man's cruel attitude and behavior.
As soon as the information was received, the People's Committee of Thanh Loc Ward coordinated with the police to set up a working group to be present at the facility to prepare a profile, collect information and documents related to the incident. The working group found signs of crime and reported to the District 12 Police.
The authorities identified the old woman in the clip as VTT, 85 years old, from Ben Tre, living in Tan Binh district; and the man who beat the old woman was Huynh Van Gioi, manager of the Trang Khuyet Inn Shelter on Ha Huy Giap street, Thanh Loc ward, district 12.

According to the police, Gioi started working at Trang Khuyet Charity and Social Protection Fund LLC since 2020, and was assigned to manage Trang Khuyet Inn Shelter, under the Trang Khuyet Charity and Social Protection Fund.

Mr. Gioi's daily task is to manage, look after, and take care of the elderly currently residing at the Trang Khuyet Inn Shelter. This place has about 14 elderly people who are lonely and have no place to live.
The victim was admitted to the Trang Khuyet Inn Shelter, managed and looked after by Gioi. During the care, Gioi beat and cursed at Mr. T. as shown in the clips.
Outraged by Gioi's cruel behavior, Mr. P. used his phone to record it and posted it on social media.
Up to now, the Investigation Police Agency of District 12 Police (HCMC) has issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue an arrest warrant to temporarily detain Huynh Van Gioi for the crime of torturing others.
Trang Khuyet Charity and Social Protection Fund Company Limited was licensed to operate by the Department of Planning and Investment of Ho Chi Minh City in 2020. The current managing unit is An Vui Old Age Nursing Joint Stock Company, Tan Binh District.
The HCM City Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs confirmed that the Trang Khuyet Inn shelter does not have a license to operate a social assistance facility. On the other hand, other facilities of this company do not meet the conditions to operate a social assistance facility (such as room area and care staff).
