From the economic efficiency, Mr. and Mrs. Dinh Thi Ky, Thoi Hiep B hamlet, Xuan Thang commune, Thoi Lai district (Can Tho city) boldly invested in expanding the frog farming model combined with eel farming.

Guiding visitors to 6 mud-free eel ponds from 2022, Ms. Ky said that her family is preparing to release 5,000 eel fry into 3 disinfected ponds with clean water.

According to Ms. Ky, the first time she tried raising 3,000 eel fry, the income was insignificant. The next time, Ms. Ky released 6,000 eel fry in 2 ponds.

Learning from the previous experience of raising eels without mud, after 8 months, the eels weighed 400 gr/eel, traders paid a deposit and bought all of them.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Toan - Ms. Ky's husband, to raise eels to meet requirements, good eel breeds are needed and the pond needs to be clean.

From the 6th month onwards, you must change the water regularly and increase the amount of food so that the eel grows quickly with little loss.

Eel farming that meets the requirements is with 1,000 eel fry costing 3.5 million VND and 7 million VND of industrial feed, after 8 months of care, harvest from 220kg of eel meat. Currently, the price of commercial eel is from 80,000-120,000 VND/kg.

To ensure a continuous supply of eel meat for some restaurants and eateries, Ms. Ky ordered eel fry 1 month in advance for continued farming. This batch of eels will ensure a supply after the Lunar New Year 2025, and the purchase price will be higher.

Officials of the Women's Union of Xuan Thang Commune, Thoi Lai District (Can Tho City) visited the frog farming model of Ms. Ky (the person wearing a hat). In addition to raising commercial frogs, Ms. Ky and her husband have also been successful with the eel farming model.

At this time, they have cleaned up the empty land next to their house, prepared to spread tarps and divide the plots to raise 4,000 more frogs.

Ms. Ky said that she and her husband decided to invest in frog farming after watching a TV show introducing a model that was economically effective and suitable for family conditions.

Mr. Toan attended training courses on aquaculture in the commune and visited frog farming models that achieved economic efficiency. In July 2024, he and his wife experimented with raising 2,000 frogs, mainly using industrial feed.

Mr. Toan diligently added baby fish to the frogs to give them more nutrition and help them grow faster. After raising them for more than 2 months, Ms. Ky sold the frogs for 33,000 VND/kg, earning 14.5 million VND. By the end of November, she will sell the second batch of frogs, with the current price starting at 40,000 VND/kg.

According to Ms. Ky, raising frogs is quite simple, requiring a large, airy area of ​​land; feeding on time, on time, monitoring the frog's weight and growth weekly to regulate the appropriate amount of food, avoiding overfeeding, leading to waste.

If well cared for, frogs can be harvested after more than 2 months, reaching about 3 frogs/kg. When connecting with consumers, Ms. Ky and her husband expanded the frog farming model, ensuring a regular supply of frog meat, increasing income to invest in a mud-free eel farming model.

To "support" the development of this model, in addition to introducing them to participate in training courses, the Commune Women's Union created conditions and supported Ms. Ky to borrow 120 million VND from preferential capital sources; at the same time, encouraged the replication of this model among members and women to strive to become prosperous together.
