The Prime Minister has issued a decision to convert the National Economics University into the National Economics University.
Today, November 15, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1386/QD-TTg on converting the National Economics University into the National Economics University. The Decision takes effect from the date of signing.
From now on, National Economics University will be transformed into National Economics University.
According to the above decision, after converting the university into a university, the National Economics University is still a public service unit, a public higher education institution under the Ministry of Education and Training, with legal status, its own seal and account.
The National Economics University shall reorganize its organizational structure and operations on the basis of the National Economics University in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Higher Education and relevant legal provisions; the reorganization process must ensure the legitimate and legal rights and interests of the parties involved, operate normally, and prevent negativity, loss, and waste of finance and assets.
Until the Minister of Education and Training decides to establish the university council, recognize the chairman of the university council and recognize the Director of the National Economics University according to the provisions of law.
It is known that the National Economics University currently has about 28,000 full-time students, more than 1,200 staff and lecturers. The number of undergraduate training majors is 87, 28 doctoral training majors. The National Economics University has 3 affiliated schools: School of Economics and Public Management, School of Business, School of Technology (all newly established in early 2024). In the development strategy for the period 2021-2030, the National Economics University aims to be in the top 5 universities in Vietnam.

The university has been recognized as meeting the quality standards of higher education institutions by a legitimate educational quality assessment organization.
There are at least 3 schools belonging to the university established according to the provisions of the Law on Higher Education; there are at least 10 training majors up to the doctoral level; there is a regular training scale of over 15,000 people.
There is approval from the direct management agency for public universities; there is consensus from investors representing at least 75% of the total contributed capital for private universities and non-profit private universities.
