Pope Francis waves to the crowd outside the Cercle Cite administrative building in central Luxembourg on September 26.
The trip to Luxembourg and Belgium marks one of the rare times Pope Francis visits neighboring countries in Europe.
Since his election in 2013, Pope Francis has made a habit of visiting places where no head of the Holy See has ever visited before, or countries with small Catholic communities.
On the only day in Luxembourg on September 26, the head of the universal church called on leaders in the country with the highest density of millionaires per capita in the world (16% of the adult population are USD millionaires), to devote resources to improving living conditions in developing countries.
"Let us not forget that wealth involves responsibility," Reuters quoted the pope as telling political and civil leaders at the Cercle Cite Palace.
When he arrives in Belgium on September 27, Pope Francis is expected to meet King Philippe and Prime Minister Alexander De Croo of the country.
The European trip comes less than two weeks after the pope returned from a 12-day trip to four countries in Southeast Asia and Oceania.
