Recently, there have been continuous clips recording images of the 'law of life' - the strong win over the weak on the streets. Images of the weaker being assaulted for trivial reasons have made many people angry. VietNamNet has produced a series of articles revolving around the above issue.

The image of Mr. Le Xuan Hung (born 1994, in Tay Ho, Hanoi), a male shipper, being assaulted and injured by a Lexus driver, spread on the internet on February 10, making many people angry.

While the incident had not yet calmed down, social media continued to post a clip of a man punching a driver sitting in a car at 57 Cua Dong, Cua Dong ward (Hoan Kiem district).

Most recently, on the afternoon of February 18, a clip appeared recording the scene of a man rushing in and beating a young man wearing a shipper shirt. The victim was Nguyen Quang S. (17 years old, residing in Quang Trung ward), an 11th grade student at Vinh University High School for the Gifted. He said that after school, he borrowed a shipper shirt from a friend to keep warm on the way home.

When reaching the intersection of Tran Phu Street near Vinh City Hospital, S. stopped his car due to a red light. At that moment, a man was walking across the street and had a minor traffic collision with the male student. The man then rushed in and beat S.

Regarding the recent uncivilized behavior on the streets, many VietNamNet readers expressed their indignation. One reader said: “Any act of using violence to resolve conflicts must be severely punished. Our goal is to move towards a civilized and advanced society, so we need to completely eliminate acts of violence from life…”

According to other readers, the best thing to do when going out on the street now is to be patient, if there is a conflict, accept that you are at a disadvantage to keep things peaceful, but if you are unlucky enough to meet a thug, you will suffer more. There are also hot-tempered readers who express their indignation: "Disturbing public order, arrest immediately"; "Must be dealt with severely, do not accept such thugs".

Why?

Speaking with VietNamNet, Dr. of Sociology Nguyen Nhu Trang (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) said that most people have good awareness of the law, strictly comply with legal regulations as well as cultural behavior in civilized social life.

However, a small number of people still commit acts of law violation, disturbing public order, and acting against the guidelines and policies of the Party and State.

The underlying cause, in addition to lack of understanding of illegal acts and lack of awareness of cultural behavior, must be clearly stated here, is the lack of behavioral control when conflicts and collisions occur in life such as traffic collisions or in communication, through attitude and speech.

Lack of behavioral control stems from lack of emotional control. This leads to uncontrolled attitudes and speech, which promote illegal behavior. We need to have a clear view from many aspects of social life.

According to Dr. Nguyen Nhu Trang's analysis, some people unintentionally violate the law because they do not understand the law, but there are also people who understand the law but still violate it, harming the physical and mental health of others, which is a lack of human personality and ethics.

In terms of personal psychology, people who think they have more money or are stronger than others often give themselves the right to resolve conflicts in a way that benefits them, according to the "law of life" where the strong win and the weak lose.

Here, social status is clearly dominated, people with power, money, influence, or even a bigger body give themselves the right to handle the case in the way they want, not based on the law and civilized behavior between people.

In addition, lack of skills and poor management of one's own emotional state leads to lack of behavioral control, leading to excessive attacks on others.

In addition, a part of the population is not really aware of and does not practice traffic culture when participating in traffic. Car drivers still consider cars as property, not vehicles. When there is a collision, there is behavior of insulting, cursing, even attacking by action to protect property.

According to lawyer Giang Hong Thanh (Giang Thanh Law Office), the recent series of street assaults is a very worrying issue, reflecting the lack of control over both emotions and behavior of each individual when participating in traffic.

Such acts of violence not only violate the lives, health and property of others but also create an uncivilized and unsafe living environment.

Many people, when something happens, get angry and lose control, doing everything to relieve their frustration. By the time it's over, it's too late to regret.

“Therefore, every citizen needs to raise their awareness of obeying the law and not committing acts of violence in society, so as not to get into trouble with the law for extremely trivial reasons,” said lawyer Giang Hong Thanh.
