This official visit to Iran by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue is the first visit to Iran by a Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman in nearly 25 years. For many members of the Vietnamese National Assembly delegation, this is also the first time they have visited the beautiful and hospitable capital Tehran and, more importantly, it coincides with the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Iran diplomatic relations, an important milestone in the relationship between the two countries.
In the large building, many colleagues from Iran National Television, Iran News Agency (IRNA), and the House of Representatives Media arrived very early in the second floor reception room, which is impressively designed with all-glass walls carved on them, to attend the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between the two parliaments, an important event chaired by the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Chairman of the Iranian National Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

Attending the joint press conference after the fruitful talks between the two leaders of the two countries' parliaments, a colleague of TASNIM news agency reported on the same day the message of the two leaders. That is: The Iranian parliament speaker said that the two sides discussed many important cooperation contents in politics and economy, including cooperation in fisheries, health, the issue of simplifying the visa mechanism between the two countries... and especially, the two sides agreed to increase efforts to soon open a direct flight between Tehran and Hanoi.
At the meetings, contacts and active and effective working sessions in the capital and localities of Iran, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, the National Assembly Chairman conveyed the message that Vietnam attaches importance to and wishes to promote relations with Iran, through all channels of the National Assembly, Government, people-to-people exchange and local cooperation.
During the struggle of the Vietnamese people for national independence and nation building today, the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran through the ages have shown good and friendly feelings towards the brave and resilient country and people of Vietnam, creating conditions to promote the friendly relations and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries and the two National Assemblies.
The common spirit affirmed through high-level meetings between the two sides is that the good cooperation between the two countries needs to be further promoted in many areas where both sides have advantages and potential, for the benefit of the people of both countries, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Iranian leaders expressed their admiration for the glorious history of the Vietnamese nation, the resilient and indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people, as well as the socio-economic achievements of Vietnam today. The Iranian President warmly welcomed the visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, affirming that the visit marked a new development in the history of relations between the two countries in general and between the two National Assemblies in particular.
With a short time and a busy schedule, from the first day of arriving in Iran, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue had meetings with senior Iranian leaders. And the next day, the National Assembly Chairman attended and delivered a speech at the Iranian Institute for Political Studies and International Relations (IPIS) and at the Forum on policies and laws to promote trade and investment cooperation.
These are all events that many politicians, diplomats, scholars and leading researchers of your country are particularly interested in.
Speaking here, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized: “Despite the geographical distance, it cannot prevent cooperation between us. Thousands of years ago, many Sassanid and Persian merchants traded goods and established trading posts at Vietnamese ports. Now, we are only nearly 10 hours away from each other by flight, over 5,500 kilometers, to connect Hanoi and Tehran, two capitals for peace.”

We respectfully welcome the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam to attend and deliver a speech with profound and solemn content. Before starting the welcoming program, all delegates present in the auditorium solemnly stood up to perform the flag salute ceremony and sing the Vietnamese National Anthem and the Iranian National Anthem.
Through direct exchanges in an open, frank, and scientific spirit, IPIS experts highly appreciated the convincing and inspiring answers of the National Assembly Chairman.
According to the National Assembly Chairman, today, Vietnam and Iran are dynamically developing economies in Asia, both possessing a market of nearly 100 million people, with many advantages that can complement each other. The two countries have a young population structure, a developed youth and intellectual class, with the advantage of an abundant labor force and a high rate of Internet access.
Vietnam and Iran can share the aspiration to promote cooperation for peace and development on the basis of the extremely good bilateral political and diplomatic relations...
Looking towards a peaceful and developed future with a vision for the next 50 years of relations between the two countries, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue suggested that the two sides join hands to strengthen four connections: Connection of dialogue and cooperation mechanisms; Connection of digital, science-technology and transportation; Connection of trade-investment; Connection of people.
Referring to one of the open directions to create a breakthrough in promoting relations between the two countries in the coming time, the President of the National Assembly and leaders of Iran as well as many businesses of the two countries present at the Forum spent time discussing the tourism sector.
"This is an area in which we have many strengths. Iran is proud to have 27 world heritages recognized by UNESCO, such as Naghsh-i Jahan Square, Lut Desert, Golestan Palace or recently the Trans-Iranian Railway, Uramanat Cultural Landscape... Vietnam also has 8 world heritages. Developing tourism, especially cultural tourism, is the best way to connect people, bringing our two countries closer together" - the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly emphasized.
Participating in the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly this time are many senior leaders of ministries, sectors, and localities with the potential to promote cooperation with Iran in economics, trade, investment, tourism, culture, education and training, agriculture, fisheries, defense, security, and science and technology...
Many new areas were discussed in detail by leaders and businesses of both sides, aiming to soon build a specific planning framework to evaluate and decide on investment cooperation, especially in nanotechnology, satellite research, space orbit, and exchange of technology training programs at academies and universities of both sides. The two sides also proposed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of culture and arts at a comprehensive level...
The leaders expressed their determination to jointly promote new cooperation in potential areas, opening a new chapter in the bilateral cooperation relationship that is on a good track.
To effectively implement the above measures, the two sides agreed to coordinate to prepare well for the 10th meeting of the Vietnam-Iran Intergovernmental Committee and promote the implementation of other bilateral cooperation mechanisms to review and agree on measures to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries.
What remains in our working trip to Iran, for us, is that the two countries have gone through many struggles, ups and downs of history, and the love for peace is ingrained in the blood of the people of the two countries. The people of the two countries, the two nations, naturally, have many similarities in sentiment, vision of community and nation unity, and a perspective that always looks towards a world of unity with the best things.
In his policy speech to Iranian scholars, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue recalled the image of the brave warrior, the hero Arash in Persian legend, who is revered by many countries in the region as a symbol of peace. He poured his life into the last arrow shot from his bow, to demarcate the border, building a lasting peace between Persia and Turan. That profound story has left us with a lesson on how to demarcate borders, end violence peacefully to meet the aspirations of the Iranian people and neighboring countries...
Saying goodbye to our friendly country Iran, we felt the love for peace and the closeness and friendliness on every face. The greeting Salam Alaikum, meaning peace, was uttered from kind hearts, memorized by the National Assembly Chairman and many members of the delegation and came out naturally in warm and friendly meetings.
Instead of a cordial conclusion and to express the wish for Vietnam-Iran cooperation in a world of peace and development, the National Assembly Chairman concluded his speech with the following passage: “No words can compare to the profound and humane verses of the Great Poet Mawlana Rumi: “Peace spreads across the land and sky/ Joyfully welcome, pure gold is here/ Reviving life from now on/ Every second, every minute, how beautiful and radiant”, amidst endless applause, in the auditorium filled with scholars and cultural figures in the beautiful capital of Tehran.
