To produce Shanam tea, TAFOOF has worked with ethnic people since the early days. The first workers invited to the factory were illiterate, and after months of studying, they could only sign their names. But now, they can read and write fluently and even communicate very well with Kinh people. Currently, the workers who purchase raw tea as well as the workers in the factory and even the office staff and sales staff of Shanam tea in Ta Xua commune, Bac Yen district, Son La province are all Mong people.

Second, TAFOOD has taught people to love tea trees. Only after loving them can they teach workers how to harvest properly. Because tea trees are leafy plants, if people harvest properly, the next season the trees will produce more buds and thus the yield will increase.

At the time when TAFOOD first started working with the people, the tea buds of the ancient Shan Tuyet tea tree were sold for 20,000 VND/kg, while the newly planted trees were selling for 40,000 VND/kg. The reason was that the people dried Shan Tuyet tea with firewood, so there was not enough heat to kill the yeast of the large tea buds (a very large ancient tea bud), so it would not create a standard tea quality, people often called it bitter tea. That is why when selling it to the market, the sellers called it bitter tea and the buyers did not buy it.

When the company came to Ta Xua, they immediately bought tea buds from the people for 40,000 VND/kg, with new tea products, and at the same time required the people not to process them, just pick them properly and they would even get a higher price. At that time, the people saw the benefits of picking and selling properly, so they became more aware and loved the tea tree more.

Up to now, the company is still willing to pay up to 150,000-160,000 VND/kg for tea picked with the highest techniques, while the average price for fresh tea in Ta Xua is 80,000 VND/kg, which can be said to be the highest in Vietnam today.

When the Shanam brand was launched in December 2017, when participating in fairs and exhibitions, the makers told customers how this tea was produced from ancient trees? They even communicated about the tea tree first, then let customers try it before communicating about the product. With such perseverance, up to now, after more than 5 years, Ms. Pham Thi Thu Ha shared that the product has won over consumers, helping to change the lives of tea farmers a lot.
