In previous years, the southern bank of Hung Dien canal was muddy and difficult to travel. During the rainy season, parents had to carry their children to school 4-5 kilometers every day.

Mr. Nguyen Van Co (Ta Nu hamlet, Khanh Hung commune, Vinh Hung district, Long An province) at that time volunteered to donate more than ^500m2 of land for the State to invest in building roads. Now, the road is paved, cars can go to the hamlet, the children can conveniently cycle to school.

Mr. Tran Van De (Nhon Thuan Hamlet, Nhon Thanh Trung Commune, Tan An City) shared that in response to the New Rural Development and Advanced New Rural Development Program, his family mobilized people in the hamlet to contribute funds to build a national flag road on Provincial Road 833; plant trees on Le Thi Tram and Huynh Thi Lung streets; salvage grass and water hyacinth on Nam Tam and Mai Thu canals;...

Not only that, he also propagated to get people to agree to connect the clean water system with Long An Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company .

Dredging canals and ditches for production

“Currently, the appearance of the commune has changed a lot. The alleys are bright, green, clean,... People feel very happy! My family voluntarily donated ^50m2 of land, worth more than 55 million VND to upgrade and expand rural concrete roads. I also regularly renovate my house and maintain environmental hygiene,” Mr. De shared.

New Rural Development is a correct and timely policy of the Party and State, a harmony between “Party’s will and people’s heart”, and is supported by the people. To “reap” success from this policy, Party committees, authorities and the entire political system are always active, proactive and creative in directing, deploying and implementing it.

Especially the drastic direction of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee, considering the National Target Program on New Rural Development as a key task in the socio-economic development of the province.

People have clean water to use.

The whole province currently has 5/15 units recognized as meeting the standards/completing the tasks of building new rural areas: Chau Thanh, Tan Tru, Can Giuoc, Tan An city and Kien Tuong town, of which Chau Thanh district meets the advanced new rural standards. On average, each district meets 6.6 criteria, reaching 100% of the plan.

In 2024, the province will have 11 more communes meeting the new rural standards, reaching more than 122% of the plan (the plan is 9 communes); 12 more communes meeting the advanced new rural standards; 5 more communes meeting the model new rural standards. Also in the year, the province mobilized more than 86,600 billion VND to implement the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, including central budget support; direct provincial budget support; integrated capital from programs and projects; credit capital; capital mobilized from businesses and communities.

According to information from the Provincial People's Committee, in general, all levels and sectors have been proactive and focused on effectively integrating capital sources for new rural construction. The mobilization of people to contribute to new rural construction is carried out democratically, openly, transparently and there is no situation of mobilizing people beyond their capacity.

During the year, the province issued 12 documents directing and implementing the program. The system of directing and implementing the program from the province to the hamlet continued to be consolidated and stably improved in terms of personnel, so the work of directing and operating the New Rural Development Program was always timely and consistent from the province to the hamlet.

Propaganda and mobilization work continues to be identified as the top priority task, deciding the progress of new rural construction, so the province directs all levels and sectors to propagate in many diverse forms, suitable for each target group.

New Rural Development has made the appearance of rural areas continue to change significantly. Cultural, health and educational activities are increasingly focused on. The political system at the grassroots level operates more and more effectively and has many innovations. Political security, order and social safety in rural areas are maintained.
