DON'T STUDY ALL NIGHT, ALL MORNING
Mr. Nguyen Cao Cuong, Principal of Thai Thinh Secondary School (Dong Da District, Hanoi), advised: in the days near the exam, students should not be too worried and study too much, stay up too late, wake up late; need to have a reasonable daily schedule, suitable for the biological rhythm of the exam days.
Mr. Cuong emphasized: students should not stay up too late at night, students should not participate in sports activities that can easily cause injury, and should eat healthily. During these days, students should not learn new content, but should review all the topics that teachers have reviewed, re-read textbooks for basic knowledge, solutions to exercises, and questions that teachers have reviewed. During the review process, students can do some questions in between, and use timers to balance the time appropriately.
Hanoi candidates take part in the 2022 public grade 10 exam
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Khanh Van, Vice Principal of Nguyen Tri Phuong Secondary School (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi), shared that the first important thing she reminded students was that "health is gold". "Students should note that if they want to review thoroughly, practice many types of questions, do the exercises fluently and clearly..., in addition to having a firm grasp of knowledge and skills and applying them flexibly, the most important thing to care about and maintain is health", Ms. Van advised.
PARENTAL CO-OPERATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE EXAM
Not only paying attention to students, Mr. Nguyen Cao Cuong also said that at the age of just graduating from junior high school, students really need their parents to accompany, share, and encourage them before, during, and after the exam. About 1 week before the exam, parents should accompany their children every day, help them adjust their biological rhythm to match the time of the exam sessions; encourage their children to review, and avoid creating unnecessary pressure on them.
During the exam period, parents or relatives should arrange to take students to the exam to ensure that they do not go to the wrong exam location; avoid some situations that may arise that students are slow to handle such as forgetting documents, school supplies, etc.; encourage children to be confident, not to put too much emphasis on their children's scores, passing or failing. Students' families should also pay attention to avoid situations where their children oversleep and are late for the afternoon exam.
After the exam, according to Mr. Cuong, parents also play an important role in stabilizing their children's psychology, whether they do well or not. In case your child does not achieve his/her wishes, find a non-public school for him/her to continue studying and encourage him/her to make efforts in the new journey.
Mobilize about 20,000 officials and teachers to supervise exams
With nearly 105,000 students registering for the exam, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has set up 201 exam sites and needs to mobilize about 20,000 staff and teachers from schools to participate in serving this exam. To proactively respond to Covid-19 and other arising situations, as in previous years, at each exam site, at least 2 backup exam rooms are arranged.
The admission score for grade 10 public schools is calculated by the sum of the math test score and the literature test score (multiplied by a coefficient of 2) plus the foreign language test score, plus priority points (if any). The test includes questions according to the knowledge and skills standards of the current secondary school program of the Ministry of Education and Training, mainly in the grade 9 program. In particular, the math and literature test ensures 4 cognitive levels: recognition, understanding, application and high-level application. The foreign language test is mainly at the recognition and understanding levels and has some questions at the application level.
Admitted students will confirm their admission to the school online or in person from July 10-12; submit their admission application at the high school from July 19-22.
