On the afternoon of May 18, in Kon Tum City (Kon Tum Province), a meeting was held to unify preparations for the first Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange at the Minister of National Defense level. Attending were Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Vietnam; Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakone, member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Laos; General Ath Sarath, Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Royal Cambodian Army and leaders of Kon Tum province.
At the meeting, after listening to reports from representatives of relevant agencies and units, delegates discussed and agreed on the plan and content of organizing the first Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange program at the Minister of National Defense level at the end of 2023 in the common border area of 3 provinces: Kon Tum (Vietnam), Attapeu (Laos) and Ratanakiri (Cambodia). This is an important event in strengthening solidarity and friendship, promoting substantive cooperation between local authorities, people and border protection forces of the 3 neighboring countries, together building a peaceful and friendly border.
Also on May 18, a survey of the locations where the exchange activities are expected to take place was conducted. Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien requested that military agencies and units closely coordinate with local Party committees and authorities of Kon Tum province to promptly complete preparations to ensure the success of the exchange program.
