President: Wishing a warm Tet for people on islands in the southwestern sea of the Fatherland

(Dan Tri) - On the morning of January 14, President Luong Cuong and the Central delegation visited and extended New Year greetings to armed forces units stationed in Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province.
Over the years, the armed forces stationed in Phu Quoc city have maintained strict combat readiness, grasped, assessed, and accurately forecasted the situation, especially on sea and island routes and key areas. The quality, efficiency, and combat readiness of the militia and self-defense forces have been improved, making an important contribution to protecting and maintaining political security, social order and safety in the locality, and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and island borders. After listening to the leaders and commanders of the units report on the results of the implementation of tasks and preparations for the Lunar New Year of At Ty, President Luong Cuong acknowledged and commended the outstanding achievements of the officers and soldiers of the units who united, overcame all difficulties and challenges, and successfully completed their tasks in the past year. The President pointed out that 2025 is a year of special importance to the country with many major political events of the Party and the country; a year of "acceleration, breakthrough, and reaching the finish line", striving to achieve and exceed the goals and targets set by the 13th National Party Congress, bringing the country confidently into a new era, an era of national growth. In that context, the President requested the armed forces and units stationed in Phu Quoc city and performing the task of protecting the sea and islands in the southwest of the Fatherland to focus on effectively implementing Resolution No. 44-NQ/TW of the 8th Central Committee, 13th tenure, on the Strategy for protecting the Fatherland in the new situation, especially new thinking and awareness about protecting the Fatherland. The President requested that the forces always maintain high vigilance, clearly recognize the targets, partners, plots and tricks of hostile forces; proactively grasp the situation, promptly detect and promptly resolve newly arising issues, avoid being passive or surprised in any situation; resolutely and persistently carry out the task of protecting sovereignty over seas and islands; stay alert and accurately handle complicated situations at sea in accordance with the motto and policies; promptly advise the Party and State on "correct" and "accurate" solutions to firmly protect sovereignty and territory, maintain a peaceful and stable environment for development. The President requested the armed forces, together with local Party committees and authorities, to do a good job of coordination and combat cooperation to manage and protect sovereignty over seas; protect oil and gas activities and exploit marine resources, and marine economic activities; prevent and combat crimes and effectively handle Vietnamese fishing vessels illegally fishing in foreign waters. Play a good role in building a national defense, a national defense posture associated with a solid people's security posture. Do better in mass mobilization, propaganda about the sea and islands, and in rescue, protection, and assistance to fishermen, especially in offshore seas and islands, creating a solid foundation for fishermen to go out to sea, stick to the sea, and participate in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands. Along with that, the President emphasized the importance of improving the effectiveness of defense diplomacy and security diplomacy in accordance with the viewpoints of the Party and State, contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment at sea. Continue to research and advise the Party, the State, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ministry of Public Security on policies and measures to solve existing problems in the Southwest sea. On the other hand, the President requested to focus on building clean and strong party organizations in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres. Continuously improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of party committees and party organizations at all levels in conjunction with promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics and style. Carefully and closely prepare and successfully organize party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress. In particular, comrades must pay attention to and take care of building human resources, cadres and soldiers who always have strong political will; have scientific and innovative working methods and styles, go hand in hand with action, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, constantly study, strive to master new and modern technical equipment; have the determination to "Dare to fight, know how to fight, be determined to fight and believe in victory over all forms of new-generation warfare". The President also noted the need to do a good job of propagating major holidays and important political events of the country in 2025, and at the same time, during the upcoming Lunar New Year, closely coordinate with local Party committees and authorities, all levels and sectors to take care of Tet for people in the stationed areas, with the goal of supporting and helping families with revolutionary contributions, families with meritorious services, poor households, and children on the islands of the Southwest sea to have a warmer and more complete Lunar New Year; leaving no one behind. On the eve of the New Year of At Ty 2025, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President wished the officers and soldiers of the armed forces of the units stationed in Phu Quoc city and on duty in the Southwest sea and islands of the Fatherland a new year of good health, happiness, peace, prosperity and success. On this occasion, the President presented meaningful gifts of encouragement to units of the armed forces stationed in Phu Quoc city.
