Finalize budget for Lai Chau Airport Planning

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam will have 90 days to plan Lai Chau Airport for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, not including the time for appraisal and approval of the plan according to regulations.

The Minister of Transport has just signed Decision No. 220/QD-BGTVT approving the tasks and estimates for the planning of Lai Chau Airport for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

According to this decision, the planning agency is the Ministry of Transport; the planning agency is the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, responsible for fully performing the responsibilities of the planning agency according to current regulations.

The Minister of Transport authorizes the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to approve the plan for selecting contractors to develop the planning; approve detailed estimates when using "contingency costs" within the budget estimate approved by the Ministry of Transport, in compliance with current regulations.

It is known that the goal of Lai Chau Airport Planning is to arrange reasonable space to ensure the development of Lai Chau Airport in accordance with the demand for air transport and orientation according to the Master Plan for the development of the national airport system in the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

The main contents of the planning task include: surveying, investigating, collecting necessary data for planning work; forecasting air transport demand; planning airspace, flight routes, flight methods for airport exploitation; assessing the capacity and planning options for the Port, including the airport area and ground area as well as other related contents; determining the nature, role, scale of the Port and basic indicators on land for the planning period and technical infrastructure...

In Decision No. 220, the Ministry of Transport approved the budget estimate for the planning of Lai Chau Airport for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, of VND 1,984 billion.

According to the Master Plan for the development of the national airport system for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Lai Chau Airport has been approved for planning as a domestic airport, level 3C, with a design capacity of 0.5 million passengers/year, oriented to 2050 at 1.5 million passengers/year; land use area is 117.09 hectares, the planned construction location is in Tan Uyen town, Lai Chau province.

The leaders of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee assessed that Lai Chau Airport Project is identified as an important driving force project, playing a very important role in promoting the socio-economic development of Lai Chau province; making an important contribution to ensuring national defense and security; serving rescue work.

As a driving force project, Lai Chau province hopes to soon receive investment to create conditions to promote the province's socio-economic development.

In addition, Lai Chau province proactively prioritizes local resources to carry out land use planning and site clearance to attract investors interested in investing in the construction of Lai Chau Airport. Currently, there are a number of investors interested in researching and investing in the construction of Lai Chau Airport under the PPP model.
