In 2024, ethnic work and ethnic policies have achieved important results, contributing to changing the face of ethnic minority and mountainous areas. The rate of poor and near-poor households has reached the target of the year and has decreased compared to the same period last year; the poverty reduction target has become an important task and target in the leadership, direction and operation of Party committees and local authorities at all levels. The National Target Program for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas has received strong leadership and direction from the Provincial Party Committee, City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of the province and city to ensure effective implementation and achievement of the set goals and targets. Poor and near-poor households have better access to policies, investment resources and support from the Party, State and community. The living standards of people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas have been improved, contributing to consolidating and enhancing people's trust in the Party and State.

At the Hoa Binh Provincial Bridge, Vice Chairman of the Hoa Binh Provincial People's Committee Dinh Cong Su informed: It is estimated that by the end of 2024, the poverty rate in the province will decrease by 2.61% (from 9.20% in 2023 to 6.59% in 2024), of which: The poverty rate in ethnic minority and mountainous communes will decrease by 2.77% (from 9.80% in 2023 to 7.03% in 2024); the poverty rate in extremely disadvantaged communes will decrease by 5.91% (from 21.27% in 2023 to 15.36% in 2024), exceeding the planned target (the target of the poverty rate in extremely disadvantaged communes will decrease from 4 - 4.5%). In recent times, the economic growth rate of ethnic minority and mountainous provinces has been quite high, in which the Northwestern provinces have increased by an average of 8.0% per year, the Central Highlands have increased by an average of 7.5% per year, and the Southwest has increased by an average of 7.0% per year. Up to now, 98.4% of communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas have car roads to the center; 96.7% of ethnic minority households have access to the national electricity grid; 100% of communes have kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools; 99.3% of communes have medical stations with 83.5% of communes having standard medical stations, 69.1% of medical stations have doctors and nurses to examine and treat people; over 90% of communes have radio and television coverage; 100% of communes have telecommunications infrastructure and mobile coverage to meet people's communication needs; Many provinces have an average annual poverty reduction rate of over 3%, exceeding the target set in the Action Program to implement the Ethnic Work Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045...
