Previously, the Ministry of Health announced that from October 20, 2023, Covid-19 is no longer a group A infectious disease. With this announcement, Covid-19 patients will not be examined and treated for free but will be paid for by health insurance.

In 2023, the number of Covid-19 cases decreased 82 times compared to 2022; the mortality rate per case was 0.02%, nearly 100 times lower than in 2021; the causative agent SARS-CoV-2 has been identified...

When switching to group B infectious diseases, the virus causing Covid-19 can still mutate, so Covid-19 disease surveillance will not only be based on cases but will continue to be integrated into the surveillance system for other respiratory pathogens, to monitor virus variants, assess virulence and epidemic developments .
