Entering the military environment, soldiers are deeply educated on the viewpoints, policies and guidelines of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the example of President Ho Chi Minh; the functions and tasks of the Vietnam People's Army; some issues on democracy and discipline in the Army...
As a party member and Catholic, soldier La Duc Thai, Company 2, Battalion 4, Regiment 5, graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture. Before joining the army, La Duc Thai was working at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History. For him, the military environment, although difficult, is a place to connect love and train each person to have more determination and courage in the future. “I always have a clear ideology, as a party member, I must be a pioneer in all activities, strictly follow the regimes, rules and regulations of the unit. I am ready to help fellow soldiers with issues they do not understand. I think here, comradeship, teamwork and collective spirit are very precious things that cannot be found outside. That is the motivation that helps us to be more determined to complete all assigned tasks well,” said party member and soldier La Duc Thai.
After more than a month of training, the new soldiers have fully learned the contents of politics, military, logistics, engineering, etc. |
In March, the weather was hot and extremely harsh in Tay Ninh province, so the units of the 5th Division adjusted their daily study and training schedule, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the morning and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the afternoon. After more than a month of study, the new soldiers were fully educated on politics, military, logistics, engineering, etc., lessons on the dignity and noble character of Uncle Ho's soldiers. Notably, among the new soldiers this year in the 5th Regiment, there were nearly 10 soldiers with wives and children, and many soldiers with difficult family circumstances. Understanding the nostalgia, affection, and responsibility, the units created conditions for the new soldiers to connect and contact their wives, children, and families on days off and breaks.
Soldier Hoang Tan Phuc, Company 11, Battalion 6, Regiment 5 was given the opportunity by his unit to call his wife on Zalo during his break. |
“The unit facilitates me to call my family, inform them of my study and training results, and at the same time keep track of the health, work, and life of my relatives at home. Through that, I feel that the distance between the unit and home is no longer far. Everyone is very happy, united, determined to strictly follow the regulations, study, and train well at the unit,” said soldier Hoang Tan Phuc, Company 11, Battalion 6, Regiment 5, Division 5.
In 2025, Regiment 5 was assigned to receive and train hundreds of new soldiers from districts and towns in 7 provinces in the Military Region. According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Ngoc, Deputy Regiment Commander, Chief of Staff of Regiment 5: After more than a month of enlistment, the new soldiers have made remarkable progress in both awareness and action. From comrades who were very shy and timid when they were in their hometowns, when they came here, they quickly integrated into the military environment, became more confident and much more resilient. Especially, they are self-aware of all the rules and regulations of living, studying and working in the unit.

With love and responsibility, “All for beloved soldiers”, Division 5 has directed units to deploy and implement many synchronous and flexible solutions in training preparation, ideological management and discipline enforcement. Organizing inspections and evaluating training results after each session to ensure strictness and timely drawing of experience for the next sessions.
Colonel Tran Hoang Giang, Party Secretary, Political Commissar of Division 5, Military Region 7, said that the Division has always carried out the 4 togethers well, from studying to meals, studying, living, and daily work. Cadres at all levels, especially at the company level and below, must eat, live, work, and share together to grasp the thoughts and feelings and be a spiritual support for soldiers. Each cadre must truly be like an older brother, an older sister, a close confidant of the soldiers, regularly following and guiding the soldiers to implement discipline, regime, internal affairs, hygiene, training, production, sports, etc. Wherever there are soldiers active, there is a cadre team.

“Currently, the Division is directing the synchronous implementation of many solutions to improve the quality of training for new soldiers to achieve substantial results. This includes improving meals to ensure deliciousness, adequate nutrition, and health for soldiers entering the training phase with high intensity, difficult content, harsh weather, and more hardship. Along with that are measures to prevent possible epidemics,” shared Colonel Tran Hoang Giang, Political Commissar of the Division.
From the day they left their families to join the army, young men carrying many dreams and enthusiasm have determined for themselves a new life in the military environment, always promoting discipline and a disciplined, regular style so that each soldier can study, practice and mature on his own every day.
