That achievement is the result of the spirit of solidarity, proactively overcoming difficulties, and efforts of the collective of officers and soldiers, especially in performing training and combat readiness tasks.
Being present at the training ground of Battalion 867 in April, we clearly felt the bustling and urgent training atmosphere. Under the hot sun of Cam Ranh sea (Khanh Hoa), the armored tanks roared loudly, maneuvered strongly, led the infantry, closely coordinated with the Marine Corps to practice charging to capture targets on the sandbank. At each combat position, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Do Ngoc Quy, Battalion Commander of Battalion 867, the soldiers were highly focused, practiced skillfully, and coordinated smoothly.

Lieutenant Colonel Do Ngoc Quy said: “Sea landing training is a highly specific task, requiring soldiers to have a strong political stance, good professional skills, a sense of close coordination and good physical strength. Therefore, the Party Committee and Battalion Command always determine that basic and in-depth training must be carried out, focusing on practice, ensuring that each training is solid, ensuring that officers and soldiers have a firm grasp of their responsibilities and tasks, are proficient in movements at each position, and are ready to carry out tasks in all situations.”
In 2024, despite the shortage of troops and officers, and the difficulty in ensuring security, Battalion 867 has thoroughly grasped and seriously implemented the combat training orders of its superiors. The unit completed 100% of the content, program, and training time according to plan, ensuring absolute safety for people, weapons, and technical equipment. To achieve that result, the unit determined to make a breakthrough in the content of "basics, mastery, and expertise in exploiting and using weapons and technical equipment; strictly implementing safety regulations and improving the quality of training for officers, regulations, and physical strength". Through training, drills at all levels, competitions, sports events, and live-fire tests, the level of command organization, combat coordination ability, and situation handling ability of officers and soldiers in the unit have made significant progress.
Along with the soldiers preparing models and teaching aids for the next training day, Lieutenant Le Quynh Quoc Thinh, Platoon Leader of Tank Platoon 1, Tank Company 1, shared: “When we came to work at the Battalion, we always received the attention and enthusiastic guidance of commanders at all levels. The unit not only focuses on training techniques and tactics but also regularly trains to improve physical strength, health, and adaptability to stormy conditions, meeting the increasingly high requirements of combat missions at sea and on islands.”
According to Colonel Pham Duy Huong, Political Commissar of Brigade 101, Battalion 867 is one of the Brigade's typical units in carrying out the central political tasks. The unit always strictly complies with the directives, resolutions, and orders of superiors; strictly maintains discipline and combat readiness; conducts well the drills, especially the confrontation drills. Along with that, the work of building a clean and strong Party organization, associated with building a comprehensively strong "exemplary, typical" unit is deployed synchronously and effectively. The Battalion well implements the motto "3 builds, 3 fights" (building a strong political stance, building a high determination, building a good sense of responsibility; fighting self-evolution, fighting moderateism, fighting illegal petitions and complaints) and the Brigade's breakthrough in "forecasting, grasping, managing, orienting, and resolving soldiers' ideology".
Thanks to that, 100% of officers and soldiers always have steadfast and firm political will, high determination, good sense of responsibility, solidarity and unity, strictly comply with State laws and military discipline, and are ready to receive and excellently complete all tasks.
