For this girl, only money earned by herself can give her financial security. Her frugal lifestyle and her unusual thoughts about money have caused her to break up with her boyfriend twice.
* The article is based on the sharing of a girl with the pen name Axi (24 years old).
Axi is working at a technology company in a second-tier city in China. Axi can earn 10,000 yuan (~$1,300) per month but her living expenses are only about 500 yuan (~$750). It is known that after only 2 years of working, the girl has saved 200,000 yuan (~$270,000).
"I have more advantages than others. I am a local, single and currently living with my parents. I do not have to pay extra rent. Except for the meals paid for by the company including lunch and dinner, I often buy food outside. My breakfast usually only costs 5 yuan (~16 thousand VND).
The rest of my living expenses are for basic necessities, such as buying a towel for 30 yuan (~100,000 VND). I'm not a fan of buying clothes either. I buy skincare products once a quarter, for a total of 500 yuan (~1.6 million VND). On weekends, I occasionally go out to dinner with colleagues, but most of the time I just stay at home," Axi said about her monthly expenses.

However, Axi admits that she is not a very frugal person. She spends money on many financial purposes such as buying a house, buying a car and giving gifts to relatives. When a friend gets married, the amount of money she gives them is often larger than others. On special occasions, Axi also often gives her parents red envelopes containing a lot of money. When she has time off, she also takes short trips.
For many people, shopping makes them happy and motivates them to earn more money. For Axi, she believes that seeing the balance in her bank account increase every day is the joy.
"I was considered 'eccentric' since I was a student. When my classmates had money in hand, they would spend it on going out, eating out or buying clothes. I was the only one in the class who was not tempted by beautiful clothes. Because as soon as I looked at the labels and converted the cost of clothes to living expenses, I immediately convinced myself to stop shopping," Axi recalled.
Axi said that she usually doesn't socialize much with other people. She also doesn't appreciate girls who are lazy and only put all their future hopes on their boyfriends. "Other people's money can disappear at any time. Only your own efforts can help you achieve what you want," Axi emphasized.
Axi has been in love twice and her spending habits have affected her relationships. Her first relationship started when she was in high school. However, they broke up after they both chose to study at universities in different cities.
"He was the one who mentioned breaking up first. At first I was very sad, but then I discovered that I could save more money every month by not spending money on transportation. Suddenly I was no longer sad. In addition, I heard his friend say that the real reason for breaking up was because I was too calculating with money," A Xi said.
As for his second relationship, the guy also complained many times about the way his girlfriend talked frankly about financial issues during the date. " I said I had saved more than 10,000 NDT (~34 million VND) when I was a student. It seemed like he couldn't accept that his girlfriend had more savings than him. He thought I was too stingy, while I saw that he didn't have a plan for the future. In general, our views on money were not compatible," Axi said about the reason for the breakup of his second relationship.

Talking about her future plans, Axi said that she still wants to maintain her frugal lifestyle for many years to come. Axi shared: "I want to finish paying the deposit for the house before getting married. When I have a large amount of savings, I can be more independent in life and more confident."
