Cycling to promote environmental protection

In 2021, the model "Women living green together in Vong Nhi village" - Cam Thanh commune was officially launched. The goal of the model is to mobilize women members in the village to reduce waste, especially waste from single-use plastic products. At the same time, it is necessary to classify waste at source and utilize organic waste to make biological products.

In the early stages of implementation, Ms. Tran Thi Lieu - Branch President, together with the Women's Association of the village, regularly visited homes to mobilize, propagate, and guide. Thanks to that, it helped form habits among women members. Up to now, there are 20 members participating in the model "Women living green together in Vong Nhi village".

“Ms. Lieu is very active, always running around to propagate and mobilize each house. Gradually, I also responded to Ms. Lieu. After the mobilization, the families around my house also responded to the implementation” - Ms. Tran Thi Be, one of the active members of the model expressed.

Along with the green living women model, at the end of 2022, when the "green house" model was deployed by the Hoi An City Women's Union at the village and block women's association, Ms. Lieu and the Vong Nhi village women's association actively promoted and mobilized people and women's union members to respond.

Along with the funds from selling recycled waste from the “green house” model, Ms. Tran Thi Lieu also contributed to support an orphan in the village with 700,000 VND/month. In addition, Ms. Lieu always actively encourages women to participate in planting trees, flower roads, and cleaning the environment on Sundays.

For the advancement of women

Mrs. Tran Thi Lieu is 75 years old this year, and has been involved in women's work in Vong Nhi village for more than 40 years. Mrs. Lieu is always close to, understands the aspirations and wishes of women, actively mobilizes women's union members to implement the policies of the Party and State, and participate in women's movements and activities.

As the head of the Women's Association, Ms. Tran Thi Lieu and the association have many activities to build the association's fund. After 15 years of launching the piggy bank movement, the savings of the Women's Association of Vong Nhi village has more than 3.5 billion VND.

Part of this money was donated to the Women's Union of the commune and city to build many shelters for poor women and support many difficult cases. Ms. Lieu is also a trusted address for women in the village, participating in mediating many cases of conflicts and discord in the family.

Ms. Tran Thi Lieu confided: “Talking about environmental protection, today I go to group 1 to propagate, tomorrow I go to group 2, continue to mobilize women to participate. It is better not to do it, but if you do it, you have to do it with all your heart, to fulfill your responsibility. The happiest thing is to have the support of women, to accompany me and the association to unite and stick together.”

According to Ms. Vo Thi Thu Sinh - President of the Women's Union of Cam Thanh commune, the activities of the Women's Union of Vong Nhi village, especially the contributions of the Union President Tran Thi Lieu, have contributed to the completion of common tasks with the Women's Union of the commune and the locality.

Currently, the Women's Union of Cam Thanh commune is promoting the classification of solid waste at source, building "5 no 3 clean" and "5 yes 3 clean" families in the villages, and Ms. Lieu is also actively participating.

“Ms. Tran Thi Lieu, with more than 40 years of active and enthusiastic participation in the association, is loved by women. She has promoted and mobilized women members to participate in movements such as women carrying baskets to the market, “green houses”, especially collecting low-value waste. For new rural construction, environmental sanitation is one of the top priorities and the role of women in it is very important,” said Ms. Vo Thi Thu Sinh.
