(NLDO) - The Song Thai Bridge in Quang Binh has an investment of 40 billion VND, expected to ensure safety, solve traffic difficulties and promote regional economic development.
On January 27, the People's Committee of Quang Binh province announced that it had just issued a decision to allocate 40 billion VND from the provincial budget to build the new Song Thai bridge in Quang Trach district.
This project is invested by the Department of Transport of Quang Binh, with the goal of ensuring progress and quality in 2025.
According to this decision, the amount of 40 billion VND is taken from the budget reserve of Quang Binh province to carry out the task of natural disaster prevention, ensuring national security and defense and other tasks. In particular, the project to build the new Song Thai bridge is identified as one of the top priorities.
As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , the Song Thai Bridge is currently located on Provincial Road 558B, connecting the communes of Quang Phu, Quang Kim and Quang Hop of Quang Trach District. This is the lifeline bridge for about 14,000 people when they want to go to National Highway 1 and the district center.
Song Thai Bridge was built in 1996 with a length of over 100m, a structure of 6 spans, each span is arranged with 3 reinforced concrete beams. Although the management units have increased repairs and maintenance in recent times, due to saltwater intrusion, the level of damage to the structure is progressing rapidly, becoming increasingly seriously degraded.
The construction of the new Song Thai Bridge aims to overcome current limitations, ensure convenient traffic and promote regional economic development.
According to Mr. Hoang Dang Cuong - Director of Quang Binh Department of Transport, the new Song Thai bridge will be designed with a modern scale, meeting higher load standards, ensuring safety and continuous traffic. The Department of Transport will closely coordinate with related units to effectively deploy capital and complete the project as soon as possible.
According to the plan, the project will conduct geological survey, design consultancy and organize bidding in March 2025.
The bridge surface is peeling and cracked, many patches are uneven, the rubber expansion joints are severely damaged, the two ends of the bridge abutments are eroded, leaving exposed boulders and cracks.
The Thai River Bridge crosses a salty river area, so the steel reinforcement corrosion occurs very quickly, the bridge wall is rusty; the undercarriage, many concrete pillars are broken in large pieces, exposing the steel reinforcement, some points must be reinforced by adding a new layer of concrete.
