Initial information, at 11pm on October 12, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Hoang Mai District Police (Hanoi) received a fire alarm at a 4-storey house at 652 Nguyen Khoi Street (Hoang Mai).
Hoang Mai District Police mobilized 5 fire trucks and 20 officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire.
At the scene, police determined that the fire originated in the basement, which is also the house’s parking lot. Because the basement contained many flammable items, the fire flared up fiercely, spread quickly, and emitted a lot of toxic smoke and gas.
Firefighters had to split into several teams to fight the fire and rescue those trapped above. Windows of the house were broken to let the toxic smoke out.
Five people trapped in the floors of the house were brought out safely by residents and the Fire Police force.
After more than 20 minutes, the Fire Police completely extinguished the fire. The incident did not cause any human casualties, and property damage is being assessed.
Hoang Mai District Police are investigating the cause of the house fire.
