On April 20, Manh Ha seafood facility, Cao Xanh ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province successfully tested making a giant squid cake weighing 200kg.
It is known that to make this squid cake, the facility uses more than 200kg of squid, pounded by hand from 2am, and then placed on a stainless steel mold. The frying pan is square, measuring 3.4m x 3.4m, 60cm high. When frying, 16 gas stoves, 2,800 liters of cooking oil are used, the squid cake mold is round, 2.5m in diameter, 30cm thick. To flip the cake while frying, the chef must use a winch.
How to make this giant squid cake will be shown at the Beer and Squid Cake Festival taking place from 5pm on April 27 to May 1, in the old quarter area of Ocean Park, Bai Chay Ward, Ha Long City.
This year's festival has many new features to bring visitors impressive experiences. At the Beer and Squid Cake Festival, the 200kg squid cake, about 2m in diameter, is processed and fried on the spot for visitors to experience. After frying, the squid cake will be cut into small pieces for visitors to enjoy. To do this, the facility mobilized more than 20 participants; arranged a separate area in the Ocean Park area for frying to ensure the safety of visitors attending.
The main night of Ha Long Carnival 2024 will take place on the evening of April 28 with the theme "Lighting up with Wonders" at the Ocean Park beach.
Up to now, the People's Committee of Ha Long City has issued a plan, developed and approved the script content and urgently prepared facilities, organized practice, ensuring the correct schedule for events and activities in the area on the occasion of April 30 - May 1.
