Thu Thiem 4 Bridge can increase clearance to 45 m

Thu Thiem 4 Bridge with an investment of more than 6,000 billion VND can raise the height of the bridge deck to 45 m so that large ships can easily cross the Saigon River.

The above pre-feasibility study results on the design of Thu Thiem 4 bridge project were just submitted by the Department of Transport to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on December 4.

The total length of the entire project is about 2.16 km, of which the bridge is more than 1.6 km long, with 6 lanes; the bridge can raise and lower the main span with a maximum clearance of 45 m. The Department of Transport considers this type of bridge design to be unprecedented in Vietnam, allowing large ships to easily travel on the Saigon River into the city center.

The project starts from the section before the intersection of Tan Thuan 2 Bridge - Nguyen Van Linh, goes along Nguyen Van Linh Street, turns left at Huynh Tan Phat intersection to connect to Luu Trong Lu Street (District 7). The bridge continues to cross Tan Thuan Port, crosses the Saigon River to connect Thu Thiem Urban Area at the intersection of the North-South axis and Bui Thien Ngo Street. The construction period is expected from 2025-2028.

Thu Thiem 4 Bridge is one of the key projects in Ho Chi Minh City. When completed, it will not only promote the development of Thu Thiem Urban Area but also shorten the travel time from Thu Duc City and Binh Thanh District to Districts 7, 8, Nha Be, and Binh Chanh. The project will also help reduce traffic congestion around Ben Nghe Port, Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, and Huynh Tan Phat Street in District 7.
