Established more than ten years ago, the SOS Club has become one of the largest science clubs for students in Hanoi and has organized many events with the goal of bringing science closer to the community.

Having participated in the Science Fair when he was a secondary school student, Vu Ha Minh Nhat was fascinated by interesting scientific activities. Minh Nhat said that he never thought that science could be integrated into interactive games in such a natural and interesting way. At that time, Minh Nhat wanted to become an event ideator. Becoming a student of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Minh Nhat fulfilled his wish as the head of the communications department of the SOS Club.

Every year, this Club has 4 annual activities aimed at students: Science Fair (science exhibition, group work activities with many science topics), Science Tour (organizing exchanges, performing experiments at primary and secondary schools), Science Camp (science classes for children in Hanoi), Science Tornado Exhibition.

Among the four activities, the Science Exhibition is the most prominent event. The exhibition is a form of science fair with many different activities, on topics such as "Universe", "Evolution", "Substance", "Nova", "V", "Odyssey"...

"Organizing events is not only an opportunity to introduce scientific applications to students, but also an opportunity for us to learn and discuss and learn about science. Discussing and practicing with peers makes learning more fun. Basic science subjects are often considered dry and theoretical, if we can find an interesting and close approach, it will encourage students to be more interested and explore. A love of science will also be nurtured in them," Minh Nhat shared.

SOS is not only a science club but also a community connecting young people with the same passion, contributing to bringing science closer to life. Bui Minh Duc (11th grade student of Physics 1, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted), Co-Head of the Organizing Committee of the Science Fair 2025, said that the club's events aim to introduce a close scientific approach through interactive experiments, games and creative thinking models. Through the events, the club hopes to be able to convey scientific messages in a close and interesting way.

"When creating the lesson plan for the 2024 Science Camp, we had trial lessons with guests who were the younger siblings of club members. The most difficult point was how to convey knowledge while making the students feel interested in the lesson. The members of the Organizing Committee also participated in the trial lessons, debated together, asked questions to the teaching staff, and acted as learners to try to make things difficult for them with situations. Through the feedback of the guests, we continued to adjust the lesson plan, then tried teaching a second and third time," Minh Nhat shared.
