NDO - On the afternoon of January 9, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Coast Guard held a conference to review experiences in implementing the Project "Training and fostering foreign languages for the Vietnam Coast Guard in the period 2022-2030" (referred to as the Project) in 2024 and deploying tasks in 2025.
Major General Le Dinh Cuong, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Vietnam Coast Guard, Head of the Steering Committee for the Project implementation chaired the conference.
The report at the conference stated that, in the past time, the Party Committees and commanders of agencies and units have closely led and directed, and well implemented the dissemination of guidance documents and instructions from superiors to all cadres and employees; implemented the Project in accordance with regulations, and achieved good results in meeting the set goals.

In 2024, the entire force will organize 9 training and development courses according to the plan to ensure time and content. Successfully organize the Workshop "Improving foreign language skills for Coast Guard officers and employees in the current period" and the Golden Bell Contest, Language Festival to ensure high quality and influence in the foreign language learning movement for subjects inside and outside the force. Curriculum, documents, and book systems serving teaching and learning are fully guaranteed. Units have flexibly applied facilities and time to serve teaching and learning, arranging classrooms according to basic foreign language learning standards to meet the requirements and suit the conditions of each unit.
The opinions of the delegates participating in the conference focused on clarifying the shortcomings and limitations; at the same time, proposing solutions to improve foreign language teaching and learning, effectively implementing the Project in the coming time.

Speaking at the conference, Major General Le Dinh Cuong praised and commended agencies and units in the entire force for overcoming difficulties and successfully completing the objectives of the Project, especially the Coast Guard Training and Professional Development Center for successfully organizing high-quality seminars and competitions to create widespread dissemination and raise awareness and responsibility of officers and soldiers about the importance of learning foreign languages in performing assigned tasks.
Major General Le Dinh Cuong suggested that in the coming time, Party committees and commanders at all levels continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the decisions and plans of the Ministry of National Defense and the Coast Guard Command in implementing the Project. Strengthen propaganda, dissemination, and raise awareness of the position, significance, and importance of the Project. Develop and effectively implement the Project implementation plan for 2025 to ensure absolute quality and safety in all aspects. Consider including foreign language learning criteria in the annual emulation assessment criteria. Agencies and units continue to implement flexible and practical foreign language training and fostering courses and proactively propose policies to encourage officers and soldiers to actively participate in studying and improving their foreign language proficiency.

At the same time, the Chief of Staff of the Vietnam Coast Guard, Head of the Steering Committee for the Project, emphasized that the tasks, criteria, and objectives for implementing the Project in 2025 will be the premise for 2026 and the following years, in order to meet the requirements of building a "Revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern" Vietnam Coast Guard force, building a team of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard with sufficient qualities and capabilities to meet the requirements of the tasks in the new situation.
