Forest fire warning level raised to extremely dangerous in Nghe An

The Steering Committee of the Sustainable Forestry Development Program of Nghe An province for the period 2021-2025 issued a forest fire warning in forest areas of Nghe An province from April 27 to May 2 from Level III (high level) to Level V (extremely dangerous level).

In order to proactively respond, limit and minimize damage caused by forest fires, the Steering Committee of the Provincial Sustainable Forestry Development Program, period 2021-2025, requests the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns; Forest rangers, forest owners and relevant agencies and units to strictly implement the provisions of Decree No. 156/2018/ND-CP dated November 16, 2018; Official Dispatch No. 31/CD-TTg dated April 4, 2024 of the Prime Minister on proactively strengthening urgent measures to prevent and fight forest fires (PCCCR).

Implement well the work of warning forest fires at the fire watchtowers in the province, monitor the forest fire warning information system of the Forestry Department. Do well the work of warning, forecasting early forest fires to local authorities, forest owners and people to raise vigilance, proactively deploy appropriate measures to prevent and fight forest fires.

Along with that, proactively organize the signing of force and means contracts with military units and armed forces stationed in the area to unify the mechanism for mobilizing forces to fight forest fires in situations where large forest fires occur.

Do not allow slash-and-burn farming, burning of vegetation to prepare land for afforestation and reduce combustible materials in forests in the area on days with forest fire risk at level IV and level V.

When a forest fire occurs, the Chairman or Vice Chairman of the District, City or Town People's Committee must be present at the scene to directly direct, mobilize forces, means, logistics and command fire fighting according to the approved plan.

For forests near residential areas and warehouses, when a fire occurs, it is necessary to proactively have a plan to evacuate people from dangerous areas, and have measures to ensure the safety of people's lives and property and forces participating in forest fire fighting.

After extinguishing the fire, local authorities are requested to direct relevant agencies to urgently investigate, determine the cause and perpetrator of the fire, and strictly handle violators according to regulations./.
