Earlier in mid-October, Mr Blair said a Chinese fighter jet approached a Chinese surveillance plane participating in a United Nations operation.
China accused the Canadian Aurora aircraft of "illegally entering the airspace" of Chiwei Island, located in the Senkaku Islands, which are administered by Japan and claimed by China.
Earlier in May, the Pentagon said a Chinese fighter jet conducted close flights to US military aircraft in international airspace over the South China Sea.
