The growing area code is the basis for specialized agencies and related units to monitor and manage production and control product quality. This code also plays an important role in helping to trace the origin of agricultural products.
Currently, through the crop database software, organizations and individuals can register online to be granted crop growing area codes quickly. The code issuance does not cost anything, as long as the organization or individual meets the criteria for area, food safety, and pest control.
Recognizing these advantages, in recent times, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection has deployed the issuance and management of crop growing area codes on online software. At the same time, it has focused on propaganda, mobilization, and guidance for organizations and individuals in need to fully comply with registration regulations. The work of inspecting and supervising crop growing areas that have been assigned codes has received attention.
However, by the end of March 2024, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection had only been able to issue 17 crop growing area codes for rice, peanuts, green beans, dragon fruit, passion fruit, oranges, grapefruit, an xoa, and pepper with a total area of over 150 hectares.
The reason is that the production scale of enterprises and people is still fragmented and small; awareness of growing area codes and the benefits they bring is still limited; many people lack knowledge and skills in information technology, leading to difficulties in declaring and granting codes...
From the above reality, it is extremely necessary to overcome difficulties and obstacles, promote organizations and individuals to complete necessary procedures, promptly register and be granted growing area codes.
