Promoting cooperatives to transform into green production and sustainable development

(CT) - Within the framework of the “Action Month for Cooperatives (Cooperatives) 2025”, on April 11, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance organized the National Cooperative Forum 2025, with the theme “Transforming green production for sustainable development”. The forum was attended by representatives of leaders from relevant ministries, branches, Cooperative Alliances of provinces and cities and 100 typical cooperatives nationwide.

The National Cooperative Forum 2025 aims to exchange, share experiences and seek solutions for collective economic development, cooperatives, associated with green economic development, sustainable development. Currently, the country has over 33,500 cooperatives operating in diverse industries and fields, of which more than 64% are agricultural cooperatives, with more than 3.8 million farmers, developing effectively and increasingly affirming their role in linking production according to the value chain, contributing to increasing people's income as well as promoting the goal of sustainable GDP growth. Especially in the trend of green economic development, sectors, levels and localities have been implementing the "Sustainable development project of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice in the Mekong Delta" to set strong development requirements for more than 20,000 agricultural cooperatives...

Within the framework of the Forum, delegates discussed the basis for building and sustainably developing green production chains in the collective economic sector and cooperatives; resolving difficulties and obstacles of cooperatives in localities, in order to find ways to support cooperatives in effectively developing green production models, for sustainable development. In addition, the Forum also helped stakeholders update policies as well as connect with financial institutions, investment funds, seek strategic partners and learn from practical experiences; at the same time, help cooperatives improve their capacity in applying green economic models, linking activities with digital transformation, green economy and circular economy.

* On the same evening, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance held the "Vietnam Cooperative Star 2025" Award Ceremony (CoopStar Awards 2025) for 100 outstanding and typical cooperatives nationwide.

In 2025, the whole country will have 100 typical cooperatives, leading in economic development in localities, honored to receive the "Cooperative Star 2025" Award. Can Tho City has 2 cooperatives receiving the Award: Khiet Tam Cooperative, Vinh Thanh District and Nhat Tam Commercial Production Cooperative, Ninh Kieu District.
