On the morning of December 4, President Vo Van Thuong directly disseminated the topic of Resolution 43 of the 8th Central Party Conference regarding continuing to promote the tradition and strength of great national unity, building an increasingly prosperous and happy country.

Division will restrain and retard development.

According to the President, there are three very important reasons for the Central Committee's issuance of Resolution 43.

Firstly, after 20 years of implementing Resolution 23 of the 9th Party Central Committee, the proposed goals and solutions have been basically completed. However, this is a long-term, continuous issue, so it is necessary to calculate the tasks and solutions to promote the tradition and strength of great national unity in the new situation.

Second, after 20 years of implementing Resolution 23, the Central Committee assessed that there are still some limitations and shortcomings and believes that some lessons need to be drawn for better implementation.

Third, according to the President, the current world, regional and domestic situations have changed a lot; the perception of solidarity and great solidarity has many new elements.

"Between unity and division, it seems that unity will be stronger and more developed. Disunity or worse, division, will restrain development, even drag down the development of some countries," the President emphasized.

With Resolution 43, President Vo Van Thuong outlined four main viewpoints, in which he affirmed the position and role of national solidarity, identifying national solidarity as a precious tradition and a consistent policy and strategy of the Party. At the same time, this is a great source of strength and a decisive factor for victory.

"Great national unity is a precious tradition, an important and consistent strategic line of the Party; a great source of strength, and a decisive factor for the victory of the cause of national construction and defense," Resolution 43 clearly stated.

According to the Resolution, the solid foundation of national solidarity is the alliance between the working class, the peasantry and the intelligentsia led by the Party; the strong relationship between the Party and the people, and the people's trust in the Party, the State and the regime.

In addition, the President emphasized the common goal of promoting the tradition and strength of national unity. Each person has a different way of thinking, even patriotism in their own way, but the common point is to build a prosperous and happy Vietnam, becoming a developed country with high income by 2045, according to the President.

Without democracy there is no true unity.

Another important viewpoint stated in Resolution 43 is the method to promote tradition and the strength of great solidarity. Accordingly, the President emphasized promoting the strength of great solidarity with promoting socialist democracy, respecting, ensuring and protecting human rights, civil rights, and the people's right to mastery in all areas of social life.

To achieve great unity, democracy must be promoted. Unity without democracy is a one-way unity; unity without listening to different opinions is a one-way unity.

"It is dangerous for the Party and the country for a lower-level cadre to choose what his superior thinks to say. It is dangerous for the Party and the country. An cadre who attends a collective leadership meeting but keeps thinking about what his superior thinks so that he can say something that is in line with the leader's wishes," the President cited.

According to the head of state, that is one-way solidarity, solidarity in the same direction, solidarity based on cover-up, not listening to the truth.

"Unity must promote democracy. Where there is no democracy, there is no true unity," the President emphasized.

In reality, the State leaders believe that there are still places where people are not frank and do not have sincere exchanges, but when discussing any issue, they just ask what the leader thinks so that they can make the right statement. "That is not right," said the President.

Returning to the important viewpoint in Resolution 43, President Vo Van Thuong emphasized that great unity is the cause of all people, the responsibility of the Party and the entire political system. In which, the Party plays the most important role.
