Spectacular breakthrough in tray plating and machine implantation applications

The contest is an opportunity for farmers and cooperatives to exchange and learn experiences in effectively planting rice with machines, thereby promoting the application of mechanization in agricultural production.
The contest had the participation of 12 teams from 10 districts: Phu Xuyen, Thuong Tin, Ung Hoa, Quoc Oai, Thach That, Phuc Tho, Ba Vi, Soc Son, Me Linh and Dong Anh.

“Transplanter in hand, golden season sure to win”
Participating in the contest, Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong - Team Leader of Phu Hung General Agricultural Service Cooperative (Phu Xuyen district) shared: “Our cooperative produces from 150,000 to 170,000 trays of seedlings per crop, with the current number of 11 large capacity transplanters (Kubota 6 CMD sit-down transplanters, 6 rows and 12 hand transplanters). Thanks to the application of mechanization in production, farmers have renewed their thinking and methods in agricultural cultivation. Coming to the contest today, we are very happy to learn more about modern transplanting and tray-planting equipment of enterprises; learn from the experiences of other teams to apply locally to increase the area of ​​​​application of tray-planting and machine transplanting”.

According to the Director of the Agricultural Service Center of Me Linh District, Nguyen Thi Chinh, the advantages of using mechanical trays are reduced labor costs, sparse planting density, reduced pests and diseases, concentrated rice flowering, more effective tillers, and productivity equal to or 5-10% higher than traditional planting. Therefore, the cost is reduced by 4.1 million VND/ha, bringing clear economic efficiency to farmers.
The introduction of mechanization into agricultural production has liberated labor, increased economic value and reduced production costs, protected the environment and the health of producers. This is the right direction, keeping up with the trend and bringing many practical benefits.

In Phu Xuyen district, for many years now, the locality has had a policy of mobilizing and encouraging farmers in the area to cultivate rice according to the "no footprint" field model. Vice Chairman of Phu Xuyen District People's Committee Nguyen Trong Vinh said that in recent years, in addition to the city's support (50% of the value of the transplanter), the district budget supports 10% of the value of the transplanter, the commune budget supports an additional 15% or more of the value of the transplanter, so the number of transplanters has increased over the years.
In the period from 2012 to now, the total funding for the mechanization project in the tray-planting and machine-planting stages of the district has reached tens of billions of VND. Currently, the District People's Committee also supports households applying the machine-planting method at a rate of 75,000 - 100,000 VND/sao. This support has become a source of encouragement for people in production.

Implementing Resolution 08/2023/NQ-HDND dated July 4, 2023 of the Hanoi People's Council stipulating a number of policies to encourage agricultural development in Hanoi (Resolution 08), up to now, the whole district has had 80 6-row transplanters, 100 4-row transplanters; the area planted by tray transplanters is about 1,500 hectares per crop.

Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Manh Phuong informed that Hanoi City determined to continue promoting mechanization in production, striving to have concentrated agricultural production areas basically mechanized and synchronized mechanization by 2025. Up to now, the rate of mechanization in land preparation in Hanoi has reached 100%; the harvesting stage has reached over 90%, the sowing stage has increased by 15% (before 2024, when Resolution No. 08 was not yet issued, the mechanization rate in sowing and planting was only 3%).
Continue to put policy into practice
To create a "push" to promote mechanization in agricultural production in general and rice production in particular, in 2023, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development advised the City People's Committee to submit to the People's Council Resolution No. 08 on a number of policies to encourage agricultural development, including policies to support mechanization in agricultural production.

 

After 1 year of implementing Resolution 08, the rate of mechanization in the sowing and planting stage has made a spectacular breakthrough, increasing the rate of mechanization in the whole city by 15% (while previously the rate of mechanization in the sowing and planting stage was only over 3%). Some districts have high growth rates such as My Duc increased by 19%; Phu Xuyen increased by 10%, Me Linh increased by 8%. Resolution 08 has been put into practice and received positive responses from people and cooperatives. The results have contributed to changing the thinking of farmers, modernizing agriculture and rural areas, and promoting socio-economic development in the city.

In 2024, the total budget to support mechanization in agricultural production according to Resolution 08 is more than 16.3 million VND. Accordingly, the total number of transplanters supported for organizations in the city is 48 transplanters, with a budget of more than 8.5 million VND in the districts of Phu Xuyen, Ung Hoa, My Duc, Quoc Oai, Thach That, Ba Vi, Phuc Tho, Me Linh, Son Tay town...
Regarding funding support for machine planting, the People's Committees of districts and towns have deployed support for an area of ​​over 3,000 hectares, with a funding of over VND 5.8 billion; funding support for spraying pesticides using drones of over VND 1.2 billion with an area of ​​over 5,000 hectares.
In Phu Xuyen district alone, to achieve the goal of having 50% or more of the rice growing area using tray seedling and machine planting methods by 2025, after the competition, the district will continue to promote support for cooperatives to cooperate in providing tray seedling and machine planting services. At the same time, organize specialized training courses for users of machinery, equipment, techniques for using and repairing transplanters and seedling lines.

Phu Xuyen District will coordinate with units and organizations to support farmers in accessing capital sources, techniques and advanced production models, contributing to the development of modern and sustainable agriculture. The district also recommends that the city have policies to support localities in establishing more centers for the production of synchronous tray-shaped seedlings at all stages.

With the goal of putting Resolution No. 08 into practice quickly and effectively; helping farmers promptly grasp and benefit from the policies of the Central and City on agricultural development, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development continues to coordinate with departments, local authorities, and cooperatives to prepare dossiers for purchasing machines to submit to competent authorities for approval; coordinate with credit institutions to guide preferential loans to purchase machines, equipment, etc. to accelerate the rate of applying mechanization in agricultural production.

 

In the final result, the Organizing Committee awarded the Special Prize to Phu Hung General Agricultural Service Cooperative (Phu Xuyen district); First Prize went to 2 teams: Tray Plating Center of Quoc Oai district and Thuong Tin district; Second Prize went to 3 teams: Lai Thuong commune (Thach That district), Me Linh Agricultural Trade and Service Cooperative (Me Linh district), Dao Thuc Cooperative (Dong Anh district); Third Prize went to 3 teams: Phu Quy General Agricultural Cooperative (Ba Vi district), Nam Phong commune (Phu Xuyen district), Lien Ha Agricultural Service Cooperative (Dong Anh district); Encouragement Prize went to 3 teams: Lien Hiep Agricultural Service Cooperative (Phuc Tho district), Dong Tien commune (Ung Hoa district), Bac Phu Agricultural Service Cooperative (Soc Son district).
