On November 23, according to the report of the provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department, after recording 17 cases of students from Ly Thuong Kiet Primary School (village 2, Ea Tu commune, Buon Ma Thuot city) being hospitalized with suspected symptoms of food poisoning, the Food Safety and Hygiene Department coordinated with the Health Department and Buon Ma Thuot City Medical Center to quickly establish a team to investigate the food poisoning case.

Students suspected of poisoning are being monitored and treated at Thien Hanh General Hospital.

Accordingly, at around 12:30 on November 22, Mr. VVT (parent of VVH - a 5B grade student at Ly Thuong Kiet Primary School) went to May milk tea shop to order 36 cups of milk tea for 35 children and the homeroom teacher of class 5B. At 1:45 p.m., Mr. VVT received the milk tea and drove it straight to the school gate for the children to bring the milk tea into class and use.

At 2:00 p.m., about 15 minutes after drinking milk tea, many students began to show signs of stomachache, nausea, and vomiting. At 3:00 p.m. the same day, the homeroom teacher saw that many students had stomachache, dizziness, fatigue, and vomiting many times, and 2 students had diarrhea, so she contacted the school's Board of Directors to transfer the students to the Emergency Department of Thien Hanh General Hospital for examination and treatment. A total of 17 students were hospitalized with a diagnosis of food poisoning.

By 7:00 p.m. the same day, the health of the 17 students had stabilized and they were discharged from the hospital to return home for monitoring.

Immediately after receiving information about the above food poisoning incident, the provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department established a food safety inspection team at the suspected food poisoning facility and took food samples to send to the Tay Nguyen Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for testing to find the cause. At the same time, a hotline was established with Thien Hanh General Hospital to grasp information about the admission and health developments of food poisoning patients.
